We started our dinner with one of the most magnificent appetizers that I've had: a salad, described as a Napoleon, that had a good amount of fresh Dungeness crab, grilled watermelon (the grilling makes it even sweeter) and avocado with a delicious, light dressing. This is a TO DIE FOR starter, if you love crab.

Restaurant greeted us warmly as we arrived for a long anticipated dinner with friends; their menu is enticing - choosing among great sounding dishes required thought, Result: Both service and food were excellent

I've had almost every entree on the menu, and they were all excellent. Every waiter I've had there provided great service. The atmosphere is relaxed yet classy. The building looks good too.

This is a special place to go especially for special occasions. I consider one of the best restaurants on the Peninsula. Food is wonderful as is the service. Reservations, probably at least a week in advance, are a must. My only disappointment with John Bentley's is when I call too late to get a reservation.

John has been in this location for years, with free and plentiful parking in the rear, and is consistently very good. His foie gras is outstanding, and you will find a number of other highly inventive dishes, especially appetizers routinely utilizing watermelon, artichoke, and eggplant, among others. The staff is attentive and responsive: if you want a small cool Sauternes... More

This restaurant is wonderfully unusual as it is casual fine dining. The bar is welcoming and you can also eat at the bar. The atmosphere is warm. We started at the bar with great cocktails. The bartender and clientele at the bar were friendly. We sat down to dinner and, once again, were greeted by a friendly professional server. He... More

We almost left. The noise from the bar area, particularly the blasting voice of the bartender, was unbearable. Es asked loud waiter but we were ignored. The food was average but priced were excessive considering the quality of preparation. Take the happy reviews with reservations.

My husband and I went there for dinner and loved the food. O had a calamari salad with mango, pineapple and carrot that was fantastic. My husband loved his butter lettuce salad We both had the scallops as a main course and they were done perfectly. There was a loud person in the bar which disturbed the otherwise lovely atmosphere.... More

Subdued lighting, an atmosphere of a bygone era...it wouldn't surprise me in the least. Food, service and presentation that lives up to expectations. Here's a thought: K&L Wines is maybe two blocks away on the same side of El Camino. Several days prior to your dinner reservation, peruse K&L's website for the wine...or two...of your dreams and make your purchase... More

Quietly tucked down a narrow drive off of a busy thoroughfare, this popular secret is a favorite. The day's specials are always a wonderful surprise, but it is hard not to choose the Hanger Steak which I start salivating for even before arriving. The service is exceptional, the wine list terrific, the array of single malts extensive and the post... More
