The black bear has several locations we have found in California, the one on commerce Blvd in Rohnert park is awesome, when they bring out your order, your thinking probably won't be alot, but man we're we wrong. There is always so much food we always have to have a to go box. All of the staff are over friendly... More

This restaurant is in the old Jerry's restaurant where I hung out with friends many, many years ago. As an old timer, I can say that not much has changed but the food is terrific! Great place for families and obviously a local hangout. Saturday at 9a was very busy but we got right in. The French toast was awesome... More

I've lived in Mt Shasta, home of the original Black Bear Diner so eaten alot of meals at Many Black Bears. Had a nice experience at the Redding location, quick friendly service with a smile. Nice when you've stepped in from the rain. Had a bowl of soup to warm me up, it did the trick. One of the reasons... More

This place seems NOT to understand what the original concept Black Bear Diners was/is about. Good food, great service, nice atmosphere. Right? Wrong. Food is OK, but tables crammed into area; noise level very high; staff very overworked hence vet slow service. Skip this one.

Stopped in and ate here on our way back home. Food was good and prepared just how we asked. The pepper sauce they have on the tables is amazing. Just make sure you get seated with a server who is not due to go on break...the person covering never came over once to check on us and our orignal server... More

I usually love this chain, but this one was terrible. Took forever go the waitress to come to our table, got our order wrong, we wouldn't have gotten coffee refills if not for the host (who was friendly & attentive) and another young waiter. Our waitress complained about short of help, but just seemed to stand by the register...maybe she... More

We weren't ready for lunch as we passed thru Mt Shasta and the original BBD, but were happy to find this one conveniently located a few miles further down I-5. Generous portions of perfectly prepared cafe food, as always.

Favorite place for breakfast! We always skip hotel free breakfast and come here for breakfast. Whether we sit and eat, or just take it to go, it's always great service and great food.

Baskets and Gravy is one of my favorite meals. But they have to be done right. Black Bear gets it. Making me hungry for them right now.
