My Fiancé and my Father decided to try the Oak Pit for dinner. The service was very slow; it took a long time to get our drinks, another 20 minutes after ordering to get our soup and salads, and another 45 minutes later we received 2 out of 3 meals and 1 of those was way over cooked. When we... More

It was happy hour so I had the $11 shrimp cocktail for $5, the $11 steak bites for $5, and a $4 house salad and was satisfied....my partner had the big prime rib which he said was excellent, tho a little pricey. I will definitely stop in again to take advantage of the happy hour specials...Service could be a little... More

We are on a road trip in the west of the US and stopped by in Porterville on our way to Sequoia National Park. Our clerk at the hotel recommended this place and we went there as it was close to the hotel. We were placed in the bar and not in the restaurant which was a bit strange in... More

Went for dinner. Good selection of food. The hot Artichoke and Spinach dip was very good. More than ample serving. Came with delicious thin toasted slices of baguettes brushed with olive oil, pepper, and parmesan cheese and tortilla chips. Really liked that. I had the small rack of Baby Back Ribs with a baked potato and steamed broccoli, carrots and... More

Stopped in Porterville for a couple of nights on vacation. We'd really meant to stay nearer the Giant Sequoia National Park but screwed up, somewhat. Instead we had rooms in America's Best Value Inn on North Main Street. The Oak Pit is walking distance so if staying in the Inn you can have a drink. I wasn't expecting much but... More

The Oak Pit was always a favorite stop when visiting relatives in the area. I believe the business changed hands at some point, and frankly, it took a step down in the process. You will still get a decent steak. I had their ribeye steak. It was cooked the way I like it and is served with a side dish,... More

We enjoy coming to the Oak Pit and usually opt for the atmosphere and fun of the Sports Bar, even though we stick to soft drinks. The staff always tend to the needs of my Mother who is 86 and requires a soft diet. We enjoy the steaks and hamburgers on offer and the potato soup is wonderful. The only... More

Very good steak for a good price. The Cook game to our table to ask if we were satisfied, we had a good chat. We even received reduction of 10% since stayed in a nearby motel.

Thank Peter S
