The food is good but the service is not very friendly and slow. Authentic cuisine and very casual dining. Tasty panaderia...

The waiter was great and they had nice tvs in the eating area. But the food was below average. The chips are good but you have to keep asking for salsa.

I went in today by myself for a bite to eat. There were no other customers when I went in. I ordered a small taco salad with carne asada. The waitress brought a tray of cold hard chips with a small container of salsa, and my glass of iced tea. The chips were thick and very hard. When she brought... More

We arrived about 130pm after the typical lunch hour so we were seated immediately, salsa and chips brought to our table within minutes. Our waitress was super efficient and when I asked which enchilada I should order, her advice was spot on. My chile releno was sooooo good, as was the green salsa chicken enchilada. Rice and beans were yummy... More

Everybody has their favorites, their reasons and personal tastes in Méxican food. The thing is if you've eaten throughout México as we have, from puestos to fine restaurants, it's tough to find somewhere worth going once you're back home. El Merendero is worth it. My wife says their beans taste like her grandmother's who lived in México City. Big compliment.... More

Yes, if you live or grew up in the Pomona area, more likely than not, you have eating at El Merendero. This is a wonderful Mexican Restaurant (with a take out window) and has what I would say as good a "TAKE OUT' for this food as you can get in the area. Family pkg is really a good deal... More

This is our favorite location to grab something to eat when we don't have food in the house or we just don't want to cook. Call ahead though or the wait is a little long. Most of the time we take it home. Occasionally we eat there outside with the dog.

Excellent salsa! Roasted tomato gives it a wonderfully unique flavor with medium kick and a fantastic aroma. Overall, pretty authentic Mexican food. Everything tastes good. Service can be slow, and the dining area is small. Bulk menudo to go on Sunday is real popular (BYO pot).

El Merendero is the best restaurant I've tried in a long time. The food is delicious and reasonably priced and the menu varied. The decor is cute and the open kitchen makes it feel homey. It's wonderful, too, to stop by the bakery for their cheap, delicious baked goods. My only complaint is that it gets really crowded on the... More
