The story of the restaurant is interesting. The price point is higher than you would anticipate from the exterior and the name. The food was good, but the delivery was odd at best (some salads before entrees, others and soup with), and ordering was impeded by language and cultural differences.

Lovely ocean view, fast & friendly staff, and by far the BEST breakfast ever. They also have an Italian dinner menu where the food is just like Mamma used to make. Get there soon and score some great food. Did I mention the ocean view?

So disappointed. From the exterior this seemed to be the spot for our family. Outside patio on a beautiful California beach evening, the smell of the smoker in the parking lot, convenient location. Shell Cafe fails on so many levels. The service is staffed by people who seem to have no restaurant experience. The food is over-cooked and borders on... More

I The signs outside say grilled steak and seafood. Nothing on the menus was even near a grilled steak. The tri_tip and shrimp were ok the best part was the mashed potatoes. Tri_tip was reheated on the flat top.

Went there for both. Dinner was pretty good. Had the chicken. Breakfast just plain terrible. Omelet was greasy vegs cooked with eggs scrambled in grill and plopped on top. They forgot cheese so brought me a slice of melted cheese on a saucer to scrape off onto my ? Omelet. Had bisquit and gravy which was full of everything called... More

Let me begin with a positive comment; my husband ordered the Ben Franklin and that was pretty good. I ordered the chicken pesto sandwich and it was okay. The chicken was tough, the pesto was below average. The sandwiches, a la carte, were each $13.00. I also ordered a side salad for $4.00. I felt gauged. It WAS NOT A... More

Large portion sizes and a good value for the money, but I wasn't impressed with the quality of the food. We were there for breakfast, the coffee tasted like Folgers, the omelet greasy and over cooked. The building is historical and the story of the location on the menu was fascinating. I wouldn't visit again though...

Interesting selection of food and drink. Not the best in town but very nice when you're traveling with K9 companions! Have been here with each visit to Pismo and found wait staff a bit lacking and disorganized but very friendly. If you're traveling with dogs this place is fine. Good pancakes too!

Good food, good service, cool band playing live music the night we went. Wife and I enjoyed it very much!

A charming older establishment we love the independent places. The food was excellent. We loved every bite. Variety in the menu something for everyone. Really nice owner!
