I do not want to write bad reviews because I enjoy writing good reviews, but I feel obligated to warn fellow food lovers about this place. It is way too expensive for the amount and quality of food you get.
I spent over $135 and...tipped them 20% for the take out, yet when I got home, I saw that the mussels were tiny and the fish and chips had three very small soggy pieces of fish with a bunch of fries. The crab was way smaller than 2 pounds like the guy said and they forgot my mashed potatoes and green beens that came with the meal.
I called back and told them they I didn't get my sides, and rather than being apologetic for their mistake (whether it's accidental or deliberate I cannot confirm), the manager was being difficult asking me for the receipt number, which I did not have as I lost the receipt while carrying the food. I did order a lot and there were many little packages including condiments and such so they may have forgot accidentally, but the manager should have made a better effort for his customers. He could have asked his employees or look at the recent receipts to confirm that I had ordered the crab meal, not a la carte. It's the employee's mistake initially though not the manager's.
Oddest part of this experience was that the guy who took my order (dark haired guy with a beard I'm assuming because he helped me and told me what's in each bag when I came to pick up the food) said his name was Jamie on the phone. The manager said his name was Jamie as well, however, he 'did not take any to go orders today'. Maybe there are two Jamies there. My husband did not want to go back just for beans and potatoes and he appreciated their efforts so I didn't push it. But after this disappointing experience, I will neither go back nor will I recommend this restaurant to anyone. It's overly expensive for average food and poor customer service at best.
If you're going northbound (or southbound) on the 101 to the Monterey and Moss Landing areas and you're craving seafood, try Phil's Fish Market. It's excellent (esp the crab and fish and chips), and you'll pay half as much at most.More
