Just got takeout while visiting town. 3 different sandwiches and a salad. Everyone loved what they got. Smoked salmon sandwich was delicious (mine). Place was packed so that indicates popularity. The bbq smoke permeates the air around the place

Traveling through or visiting Petaluma on US 101? Hungry? Sure, you can stop at one of the chains just off the highway or you can drive two minutes from the freeway and there you'll find Lombardi's. It's got half a dozen BBQ smokers out front,...a big parking lot, and a dozen picnic tables. Inside, you'll find a deli and any kind of BBQ meat your heart desires: beef, chicken, turkey, pork. My wife and I ordered pulled pork sandwiches. There's a surprising kick to the Lombardi's BBQ sauce, plenty of red pepper, but the sandwiches were tasty and the side of slaw was good too. The generously spaced picnic tables and a pleasant day made for a nice, relaxed lunch. Then it was two minutes back to the highway and on to other things. They make deli sandwiches and salads too, in case you're not in a BBQ mood.More

My husband and I go here often when we want quality bbq. They have flavorful and tender chicken and tri tip! Their ribs are delicious. I really also enjoy the baked beans and stuffed eggs. The dinners come with beans and a salad. Other sides...include mashed potatoes, potato salad, and macaroni salad. We’ve been there often before the coronavirus pandemic, and a few times during the pandemic. They are very safely conscious and make sure to keep the staff and guests safe. There is a small outside eating area. During the pandemic, I get our food to go and we eat in a local park or enjoy it at home. Whether you’re a local or visiting the area, go to Lombardi’s for great food!More

We chose Lombardi's since we could sit out side with the dog and also satisfy our hankering for ribs. The wood smoke was a good sign as we dove in. We ordered both the beef and pork ribs and split them between us. The ribs...were good but we had eaten ribs at an other BBQ locally which were since they were smoke for 8 to 12 hours and were really fall off the bone, Prices were reasonable for the meal.More

but that’s nowhere close to what is being served here. I travel to the southern states regularly and seeking out BBQ is part of my normal activities. Texas, Kansas City, South Carolina, and Southern style; I enjoy them all. Seeing all the BBQs smoking out...front gave me hope, but it was not to be. I ordered a half a chicken and grabbed a container of baked beans which they warmed for me. I was waiting at the counter when the foam container containing my order arrived. There was a table out in front, so within a minute I was ready to begin my meal. Much to my surprise the chicken was just warm, not even close to hot and perhaps the runt of the flock based on its size. Only a single choice of BBQ sauce was available at the table and it was pedestrian in spice and complexity. That made it a perfect match for the baked beans, which were nondescript. The BBQ sauce is a matter of preference, but the meat temperature was inexcusable. I ate some of it, then tossed it in the trash and went looking for another place to eat.More

There’s always a que out the door on weekends for these humongus sandos and bbq. There are too many sandos to name but I had the tri tip with home made bacon potato salad. Filling. Very filling. On another occasion, I got a slab of...salt and pepper baby back ribs to go for $22.00. What a deal. They smoke right out in front! It comes with NO sides but you have many choices in the cold case. There are a few picnic tables out on the lawn but people usually tailgate in the lot. You can get a few sauces with your order.More

I had an exciting lunch at Lombardi"s Deli...exciting because as you drive into the parking lot one could see 6 or 8 gas grills smoking up a storm cooking with a chef at each grill watching carefully.Inside the place was packed with laughing, hugary patrons...standing in line to tell their order and then waiting for it to be handmade to order. There are 19 speciality sandwiches available which could satisfy any appetite. There are outside tables and a small inside room. The furniture inside was early 1950's each with its own special wobble but were servicable. The food was delicious !More

I had just been picked up at the Sonoma airport by a friend who lives in Novato. On the way, he suggested a popular BBQ called Lombardi's in Petaluma. I am a big fan of all things grilled or barbecued. I was pleasantly greeted by...phalanx of grill drums on arrival. It was early evening and since they close relatively early at Lombardi's, we were just sneaking in. I was afraid some items might now be unavailable but that was not the case. Because of flight fatigue and shear starvation I was unable to make any choices so we "got it all". We got half orders of the baby backs, the tri tip and a half chicken, sides of cole slaw and beans and a 6 pack of tall PBRs. The total was a bit of a sticker shock at $70 but I was not pinching at this point. Credit to the value side of $70 of Lombardi's quality BBQ, that purchase turned into 1 dinner for two and 2 more successive dinners for one. It penciled out just fine. The product is quality. The ribs were particularly tender and the tri-tip very meaty but just a little overdone to my taste. My only complaint was that there was not a lot of of sauce packaged with the meats and none was offered as a side so we skipped that option. When we got home to enjoy dinner the absence of additional bbq sauce was evident to me. Make sure when you do the take out to grab some extra sauce on the side or have provisions ready at home. Good quality and well executed product. https://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews-g32874-d786261-r679976425-Lombardi_s_BBQ_Deli-Petaluma_Sonoma_County_California.html#More

YUMM! This place has amazing BBQ. They are a casual quick deli and have a relaxed and mellow ambiance. Love this deli and it's character. The salads are delicious and fresh. Soft rolls were perfect and made it so much easier to eat the sandwich....GREAT value for your money.More
