A comfortable table for two, hugging the railing above the Petaluma River, set the stage for a romantic late afternoon repast in historic downtown Petaluma. The Cucumber Martinis ($9) with a hint of elderflower syrup (I keep the Ikea brand in our fridge at all...times) were so refreshing to start. The Monterey Bay Calamari was lightly battered, more like dusted with what was most likely delicate rice flour, salt, and pepper, and was among the best on this side of the Atlantic. Such a delicate coating and perfectly cooked, with a nicely balanced melange of rings and tentacles and a total absence of rubberiness. The Happy Hour portion ($8.50) was extremely generous and the accompanying aioli perfect. I have eaten calamari hundreds of times across Mediterranea, and this dish compared equally, if not better in some places, and by far among the top five in North America! My husband, the Lobster Mac & Cheese aficionado, can't stop salivating when reminiscing about this dish! An item on the regular dinner menu, it was requisite that we try it for this most relaxing happy hour. An ample portion of cavetapi pasta (resembling ribbed double elbow macaroni) with generous chunks of lobster and smoked bacon, all smothered in a piquant cheese fondue made this Lobster Mac & Cheese ($20) a signature dish for Seared, in my estimation. To complement the perfect food, a pairing of their house Sauvignon Blanc at happy hour pricing ($7) was the ultimate treat. We would most certainly return here, especially with the attentive, cordial service to punctuate our whole experience.More

Nice food, great service. Very accommodating service and nice view. Had ahi tacos and wine for happy hour. Would definitely return.

After our initial restaurant choice cancelled we were scrambling to find a nice dinner spot on a busy Saturday night. Seared was able to seat us even without a reservation. The menu, food, and service did not disappoint. Food allergies were expertly addressed and our...meal was fabulous. The filet with duck fat potatoes and steamed veggies was some of the best I’ve had in recent memory. The lobster Mac was a full meal for my husband paired with a fresh Caesar salad.More

We had the best dinner ever here, sitting outside looking over the river. For starters, we shared an Heirloom Salad and Baked Oysters. For dinner we both had a shellfish medley, that was by far one of the best dishes I have ever eaten. Staff...was helpful and we look forward to a return visit.More

Wonderful evening. Excellent food. We took six family members and all shared. Next time I will not share my perfect scallops, they will be all mine. Fun drink menu. Service was nice, there when needed but not hovering. Will return soon.

We'd recently moved to Petaluma, so I have no family and just starting to make friends here. Both kids went back home for Christmas, so I treated myself to Christmas Eve Dinner here. One things I would note is the stated price range on Trip...Advisor is off by about 30-40% (from $18-42). So after the sticker shock, I opted for the 1/2 Dungeness Crab in the mid-range. Yes, I said 1/2 (that's HALF) of a Dungeness crab with a couple of grilled pieces of bread for ~25. I'd never had Dungeness crab before, so I was eager to try - and my guess would be that Seared was pretty darn great. However, clearly not as great as any other type of crab I've ever tried - snow crab being my favorite. So while I'm glad I got a GREAT and very tasty introduction to Dungeness, nothing about the experience convinced me I'd be willing to go back for petite Prime Rib (one of my very favorite restaurant meals) at $34 - also - the limitation of creamed spinach as the only green side is less than inspiring. Service was on par, but stilted...not natural. I guess that was my fault for not ordering the $85 prix fix menu by myself alone on Christmas Even. I certainly left a Christmas Eve worthy tip, so really, it could have been MUCH better. Overall - it'd take a really good reason for me to go back.More

Excellent experience at Seared! The service was spot on. We got there for an early seating and let them know we were looking forward to taking our time to enjoy drinks and dinner. They accommodated us fully - courteous and attentive but gave us our..."space." The food exceeded our expectations. Salad wedge classic with an excellent dressing. Main course - scallops were done to perfection as was the ribeye. Loved the root vegetables the scallops were served on. Fun drinks. Had a bourbon whiskey smash. Ofcourse a good wine selection being in Sonoma County. Decadent chocolate dessert and dessert cocktail made for a decadent and most satisfying finish to a delicious fun evening. A lively active atmosphere fine for couples but not the quiet romantic setting.More

We were going to a Friday night concert at the Mystic theater about two blocks away. This was a great choice for dinner beforehand. We didn’t have reservations, so we were offered bar seating in front of the open kitchen area. We were entertained by...watching the chefs do their thing, and our dinner was in front of us 10 minutes after ordering. Our food was excellent, as was our server. I had shrimp and grits and my husband had a special with pasta, shrimp, and crab. Can’t wait to go again, but next time will make a reservation in advance.More

We've enjoyed really good steaks, burgers and fish at Seared. The bar is very lively (and if you're noise-sensitive, sometimes the place gets a little loud), but the dining area is separate and relatively calm. Reliably good preparation of menu options by the open kitchen...staff (stools available to watch them at work). The tiniest of drawbacks are sometimes the service is just a little out of sync. And the atmosphere of the dining room (high ceiling, minimalist decoration) is not as inviting as I like, but that's just me. Just have to add that we had our New Year's Eve dinner here, and it was truly memorable - filet mignon with delicious sides was perfection!More

My husband fancied a steak and even though the outside looked unprepossessing, in fact it looked like a pub, they advertised steaks so we went in. From the outside you can't see that anyone was inside as it is very black but once you openned...the door the place was heaving! The service ws very good and the food as well. What a nice surprise!More

This restaurant was recommended by the staff at our hotel, and they were spot on! The food was really, really good. It was a Friday night, so they had prime rib on the menu. It was cooked perfectly medium rare. We also ordered the halibut...with risotto. The risotto was terrific. Our server, John did a great job. He has worked there 5 years, and knew exactly how to sell the menu. While the restaurant was crowded, we were seated at a table for two, in the corner, by the window. So it was actually a perfect spot. Far enough away from the bar area, so we were not bothered by loud talking. Making a reservation on-line was super simple. Price-wise, it was reasonable.More

One of the best parts of vacation is discovering great places to eat and this has to be one of the tops on our list. Recommended by our hotel, this little gem quickly became our favorite and we ate here every night we could. We...primarily stuck with steak which they cooked expertly. Their mashed potatoes were fabulous, the steamed vegetables were perfect. There wasn't one dish they laid before us that wasn't delicious. Even their deviled eggs were amazing...I want the recipe by the way : ). The servers were so polite and engaging. We never lacked for attention. The drinks were good, though we mostly stuck with wine, having been tasting it all day it probably wasn't a good idea to mix alcohols. The bread pudding desert was decadent but huge after a big meal. I suggest sharing it. The atmosphere is a no frills but interesting arrangement. There is bar where it gets a little noisy, but all in good fun and company. Andrew runs a great establishment and I highly recommend giving it a try!More

This place was jumping for Friday happy hour. There is a good selection of cocktails and the usual beer and alcohol. We had margaritas and they were excellent. The fried calamari were just right. The dinner specialized in steaks and fish "Seared." The filet mignon...on top of the salad was frankly not worth writing home about but my husband liked his shrimp and grits. The order of pasta and seafood by our dinner companions was a little short on the seafood. The dinner overall was pricey and the restaurant noise level was pretty high but I would still recommend it for very good food and a good menu. Hint: Parking can be a challenge and there is no valet parking. Another hint: If you are going to the Cinnabar theater, this is a good pre-theater dining choice.More

My parents favorite restaurant, the best of our 4 meals was the gnocchi..waygu ribeye tough, overcooked & prime rib special was so tough, no one ate it. Waitress seemed interested in getting the table cleared, we ordered and 10 minutes later food arrived. Bus boy...was the highlight of this meal..yuck!! $250 worth 🤢More
