Outstanding food and service. We went to celebrate my husband’s birthday and we’re reminded how wonderful it is to have this gem so close by. Whether you live in the area or are passing by be sure to support them in these unprecedented times, always...a wonderful experience!More

We were lucky enough to grab a couple of Chef Zach's Penntucky Fried Chicken dinners this week. He elevates the fried chicken dinner to new heights. The star of the show, the fried chicken, is what all chefs strive to reach: the PERFECT combination of...crunchy yumminess outside and juicy goodness inside. But we must give props to the supporting cast; the sides. The slaw was a beautiful splash of color with the purple cabbage and carrots, all finely shredded. Each bite was perfectly balanced tangy, sweet, just the right amount of creaminess without being soggy. The garlic mashed potatoes and gravy were smooth as silk. And oh, those amazing buttermilk biscuits!! Biscuits so high you're gonna need a Sherpa to help you navigate eating them. Seriously delicious. If you are lucky enough to get an order before they sell out, go buy a lottery ticket!More

They nailed it. Twelve28's unassuming locale is home to one of the finest restaurants in 100 miles. The food is sublime, with a rotating seasonal menu that showcases the best this region has to offer. I mean, one of the salads is pure play doing...beets 4 ways just to show they can. Instead of being content to blister some shishitos and throw them on a plate, they presented a medley of sweet peppers in an tang aioli that made for the perfect starter. And it's not esoteric eats for somebody coming off an episode of Chef's Table! The smashed fries with lardon are a crowd pleaser for any appetite. You can bring your parents here, a date, a group of friends, or go on your own and have a fantastic time. The personal touches bring the service above and beyond (I think this may be the only place in the 530 are code that has heard the phrase "mise en place") it's a jewel of a restaurant in a community that was dying for one. Every time I want to treat myself to a proper dining experience I think of Twelve28.More

We've eaten here a few times, most recently for my wife's birthday. The location and exterior appearance are deceptive - it's in a small shopping mall near a gas station, but once you get inside it's a very different experience. The staff is always friendly...and very helpful, and the food is amazing. They also have a nice selection of wine that goes well with their dishes, and some great in-house desserts.More

My husband and I celebrated our 33rd anniversary last night. The staff made and signed an anniversary card, and they printed a menu with a Happy 33rd Anniversary! on it. What a great way to start the night! The food is outrageously good and very...inventive, from the Fall Salad, squash soup, to the polenta, squash plate and my duck confit with kale tortellini. The dessert - butterscotch pots de creme - was absolutely the best dessert we've every had. The server was fantastic, and the owner came over a number of times to check on us. Now if they would only move to Nevada City...More

The food is exceptional, flavorful and colorful with mix of textures and original combinations. One can feel the cheff is in love with making food. The ambiance is homey and loving . Great whine selection and the chocolate cake was Devine . It’s so good...to have a place like this close to home.More

You need reservations on weekends. The dishes and their presentation are very good. Some dishes are superb, such as the squash soup, Asian pear salad, lamb steak, and tiramisu. The ricotta and spinach ravioli were a bit heavy. The local wine list was great. The...biggest negative was their big screen TV. For a restaurant with dinner prices at $90+ for two, a TV shouldn't even be in the place, raucous rock and roll shouldn't be played for background music, and the wait staff could be a bit more formal and not respond to requests with "you got it." The food is very good, but we won't be back as soon as we had hoped.More

All I can say is WOW. Great service, some of the best food I have ever had. Compares to the best of S.F and Napa.
