Obviously, I like this place. This is my first revisit review. This is a good place to eat. There are a few good restaurants in Paso Robles, and the Hatch is one of them. Traveling, eating out, and trying to have a normal life in...these exceptional times is hard. The Hatch made it easier. Because of the pandemic and to make sure we had a place to eat I made reservations two week previously. Done. We showed up right on time. The town was packed with people it was harvest festival weekend. No festival though and many people were picking up allocations. We had a party in front of us and quickly I was able to approach the host station. All customers and restaurant workers were appropriately wearing masks. The manager (Eric) greeted us and told us it will just be a moment. Almost immediately the hostess took us to our table. Usually we like to sit at the bar but, we ended up with a great table. Our server approached promptly as soon as he was able, mere seconds. We ordered Manhattans that were made perfectly: up, cold, and slightly sweet. They use Luxardo cherries. Even before we got our drinks the manager stopped by and checked in. It was evident he wanted us to enjoy our experience at his place. We looked at the menu and had made our choices, I was jonesing for a hamburger. Then the server approached the table with our drinks and announced that there were specials. Fried chicken, and I lost focus and can’t tell you any more than that. My friend ordered the meatloaf (same as last time) and I the chicken. We shared a butter leaf lettuce salad and the Brussels sprouts. Additionally, we switched ryes and had a Whistle Pig Manhattan. The salad is a mountain of large crispy leaves topped with thinly sliced radishes, pickled white onions, feta cheese crumbles, topped with avocado. There was a lemon vinaigrette. This was very refreshing, and tasted great. Our entrees were good. My friend like I said had a repeat of the meatloaf with the tomato reduction. Meatloaf was meaty and the sauce both sweet and spicy. In my opinion this dish should come with some type of potatoes. I ordered my friend a side of the vinegar potato chips - very good. My fried chicken was plump, juicy, and had a very crusty and crunchy coating. This dish is served with the Hatch’s famous hot sauce and potato salad that contained chunks of bacon. The heat of the sauce is perfect, too much equals too hot. Like Goldilocks the right amount means the right spiciness. The Brussels sprouts come with wilted grapes and bacon. I had the restaurant put the whipped chèvre on the side which might have ruined the dish but, we still liked it. The wilted grapes were wonderful. Like I said we had a great table. We sat in the back of the restaurant near the kitchen and a clear view of all the action in the kitchen and in the dining room. It was evident that the chef was in control and his staff knew what to to. There was a lot of communication between the wait staff and the kitchen. The food kept coming and efficiently delivered by runners. This is a well oiled machine. Even the bus boys kept our water glasses filled and replaced the bottle without being asked (regular house water). Lastly, our server. His name is Ari. He is a great server. There wasn’t one thing it was everything he did. His efforts, efficiency, personality all made him to me one of the best servers I have ever encountered. I used to work in fine dining years ago so I do know what makes a great restaurant experience and that’s the people. The manager checked with us on our way out making sure our time and food in his place was worth it. The people at the Hatch made for a great evening. So we got two more Manhattans to go and took them and our leftovers back back to the hotel.More

It's hard to mess up chicken salad but Hatch did. It was iceberg lettuce and slimy chicken. My husband had meatloaf, which he said was okay. He also ordered cornbread, which was not worth the calories. His cocktail came as we were finishing dinner, and...he had to ask four times for his beer. If you don't care about food or service this is the place for you. We did have a lovely server who was kind and nice.More

We went here when we found that La Conchea was closed for Mon- Tues, we found a better place! Good food, full bar- we will go back!

!!! BEWARE DO NOT COME IF YOU DONT LIKE TO VOMIT !!! This is by the far the worst experience I have had with a small business. I love to support them and give them great reviews. I was excited to try this place because...of the yelp reviews but boy was I fooled. I ordered a butter lettuce salad with the summer breeze cocktail. How is a butter lettuce salad supposed to even be an appetizer when the lettuce is in full ass chunks and the toppings are falling off the plate like an avalanche. Not even a wedge salad. As I was sitting I knew the cocktail didn't taste right as it was too strong of everything but alcohol. It tasted like they just topped it off with vodka. The cocktail comes with rhubarb tea which the manager tries to say it's not a tea it's just fruit. The tea in my drink was oversteeped which had me projectile vomit the entire rest of my night on vacation. Just because it didn't make other people sick doesn't mean it could make someone else sick. I am not them. I called the restaurant twice and they gave me short answers about the manager being out taking care of their kiddos. The employee Nikki said I've been working here for almost 2 years and nobody has gotten sick, which is clearly now a lie as I'm reading other peoples reviews. She said the mixed drink doesn't have tea in it. So you've been working there for two years and you don't even know what's in it? Why does the menu say RHUBARB TEA if it's just fruit? Look up TANNINS. They can KILL YOU. As I called today they rejected my call twice and then sent me through to the manager. She asked if I drank the whole cocktail and I said yes because I didn't want to be rude as were the other patrons at the restaurant to the employees. I hate to be that person. On the phone she just tells us that we're not the right match for her restaurant. What the hell does that mean?! I got sick off of your food! No apology or concern for a patron at your restaurant. That is no way to treat people who come into your small business. I paid almost $100 for 1 appetizer, an entree, and 2 cocktails. I did not want have to write this review but after talking to the manager I felt that I needed too. I bet if I even went to McDonald's I would've felt better than the way I felt after this restaurant. The food came out almost 3 minutes after we ordered our food, after reading other similar yelp reviews about this it just make us think our food was sitting under a heat lamp. I wasn't able to get a photo of my food on the plate but here it is all over my hotel lawn. Off to leaving Pleasant reviews for other small businesses I came across during my first and last trip to Paso. I didn't even want a refund in the first place I wanted them to remake the tea so nobody else felt the way I did. Don't waste your money on their overpriced cocktails and food. No wonder the best cocktails in town or here because it doesn't seem like there are cocktails anywhere else in Paso.More

This was our second time at The Hatch, as we came here last year for my husband's birthday. Once again we were celebrating the same this year, and were delighted. They have done a wonderful job of pivoting with COVID and the outdoor dining works...great. They may even have more tables outside than they typically have inside. We both had the skirt steak with chimichurri and so happy we did, as I wouldn't have shared! I have been dreaming about it ever since. Steak was cooked to perfection and the creamed corn and chimichurri were amazingly fresh and flavorful. I enjoyed a Sidewalk Sipping cocktail, as I kept seeing them go by. Great choice, and a nice break from wine tasting all day. It was also large enough to last me through the meal. And we had a perfectly cooked artichoke for our appetizer. Mmmmm. We split a birthday banana cream pie and it was the perfect amount of sweetness. Yum! This is our favorite restaurant in Paso, since Artisan closed. We will be sure to stop here every visit. You should, too.More

Known for the chicken -- we of course wanted the fried chicken dinner. However due to COVID we had a late reservation and it was sold out ... so we quickly selected the chicken tender appetizer to at least try the fried chicken style, and...also ordered the butterleaf lettuce salad and the delicious rotisserie chicken. All of it was divine -- plus the old-fashioned -- and the banana creme pie. We will be back!More

Had to reserve a late table but it was worth it. They were out of the chicken but the meatloaf was very good. Mindy got a special burger with a fried egg on it and enjoyed it. They have street parking and a full bar....Our server was very good.More

My husband and I went here for dinner and had high hopes given the great reviews. We were not that impressed in the end. The restaurant and ambiance itself is great and setup nicely. We had great service and felt comfortable with the socially distant...tables. The food however was nothing to write home about. We had the artichoke which was plain and flavorless. It tasted boiled in water and finished on the grill with no seasoning whatsoever. Now I have had many an artichoke and know that you could at least throw some seasoning salt on it to bump up the flavor a bit, but this had nothing. The sesame aioli that was served with it was yummy. We both shared the fried chicken and we both wanted to love it, but unfortunately didn’t. The breading lacked salt and seasoning and tasted like flour. The chicken itself was very moist which we liked. I just wish the breading had more flavor and wasn’t so heavy. My husband kicked most of his breading to the side. I know the fried chicken is their specialty so we were surprised it didn’t hit the spot.More

Everyone is working hard to make the experience as good as possible. Tables have been thinned out. Great service. The food was delicious and the dessert was a little concerning because of the price, however every bite of those pies makes you feel better about...it.More
