My husband and I had a nice dinner (sitting outside). The buratta appetizer was very yummy. We each had a pasta entree. The flavors and quality of the ingredients were outstanding!

Maybe I am wrong for expecting more. Maybe I should not make a definitive judgement from one visit. I think we disappointed Carrie because we did not want the truffles. I would have loved it but my favorite thing is squab. I asked her how...they normally cook squab. She said medium. I should have known right then that this is not a dish they love. I asked her to ask in the kitchen if they could cook it rare to medium rare. She asked and they said yes. It really came out closer to medium. I asked if they could cook my beal chop medium rare to rare. They said yes and it came out pretty close to medium rare. Interestingly both of my two dishes came with identical vegetables. To me that is unforgivable in a restaurant of this caliber. The pea soup was absolutely delicious. I have not had a lot of pea soups but this the best. My wife had the home made fettuccini with chef Santos beef ragu. My wife thought it should have had more flavor. The truth is the food was good but in a restaurant of this level it should have been more exciting. The ambiance is really nice. Joanna who brought out the dishes was a delight. She smiled and asked if there was anything else she could do for us each time she came with the dishes. Carrie was attentive but I felt like she had too many tables to take care of. Under the circumstances she did a good job. I think that I would like to come back on a Friday or Saturday evening.More

We've visited this restaurant numerous times. The food is exceptional and the service is the same. It's a must do when in Paso.

I highly recommend this restaurant. Due to COVID they are also serving dinner in the courtyard at the Piccolo Hotel -- this was an absolutely wonderful experience. The pasta was homemade, light and fresh. The Boar ragout was the best I've had since being in...Italy. The tiramisu was light and delicious. Don't waste your time going to any other Italian restaurant in Paso -- there is no comparison, IL Cortile earned it's #1 rating.More

I would definitely go back! Great food & great service! The location is in downtown Paso Robles, walking distance from the main square.

The establishment is highly rated and our family has eaten here before. We made our reservation without worrying about the current social distancing challenges, but went a day ahead of time, just to check it out. Il Cortile is located on a side street away...from other similar establishments, and the tables out on the open street are not my idea of fine dining, while the tables in the entry way seem too crowded to legally conform to table separation rules. The dive bar next door would not be a problem, except that three seedy guys were out front smoking dope near the dining tables, and homeless people were confronting us and other people. We canceled our reservation and went to their other, more casual La Cosecha restaurant on the pleasant main square, and had a delightful experience. We wil give Il Cortile another chance, post covid, but avoid it until then.More

So difficult for fine restaurants to deliver their desired level of ambiance that their chef needs to appreciate all their efforts. Il Cortile has gone a long way to delivering that experience in such circumstances. Probably one of the best restaurants in Paso Robles. Menu...is not huge, but has many fine choices. My classic Caprese Salad was probably the best I have ever had - looked great, quality buffalo mozzarella and ripe tomatoes with that fresh basil - delicious. My Pappadelli with a Wild Boar sauce (no horns thank heavens) was absolutely delicious. Service was very warm and professional. The bottom line - would we return? Can't wait!More

The challenges of restaurants during a pandemic can not go unnoticed. Il Cortile has handled it exceptionally well. The outside dining, at a very slow pace, actually takes one away to the easy paced al fresco dining of Italy. The food is authentically Italian, as...is the wine list. We enjoyed the parpadelle de cinghale (Pasta with boar sauce) almost as much as the ones we ate in Tuscany one short (seems like forever) year ago. The selection of wines from Italy included our favorite maker, Casanova de Neri and the tiramisu was fantastic. We noticed heaters nearby but with canvas umbrellas is use, the heaters are probably on tap for cooler fall weather. Definitely recommend Il Cortile and we can't wait to try indoor dining on our next visit to Paso Robles.More

We were seated in the back garden of the hotel Piccolo, as an agreement between the restaurant and the hotel. The tables are at least 10 ft away from each other, and the garden was beautiful with a fire pit and gas-heating lamp for every...table. The service was attentive, atmosphere romantic and food was refined and well-executed. The Spaghetti with bottarga was the best, as they used very high quality bottarga. It really tasted like they did in Sardinia. If you can get a reservation, try out Il Cortile.More
