My wife enjoyed dinner here on a Saturday night while our kids were spending the night at a friends house. Our reservation was for 6:45 PM. We arrived on 5 minutes late and were sat immediately. The atmosphere was quiet, but not in an overbearing manner. We felt comfortable having our conversation, not worrying about speaking over a crowd nor... More

We dined at our heart's content for a "quality" Sunday Brunch celebrating our 29 th Anniversary and 30 years together with such a sweet and amazzing creation that Le Chef had created! Wow! Not overwhelmingly crowded with individualized Champaign type Sunday 'quality' Brunch! Surprisingly quiet dining to boot❣ Sushi sashimi style with the best seared albacore tuna I've had thus... My siblings and our respective spouses enjoyed our dinners this past Saturday evening. We had early reservations at 5:30 pm so were easily able to park in the one-hour validated parking lot adjacent to the restaurant (entrance on Green St.) We had a private and intimate area to ourselves fronting Green Street. Several had the Prix-Fixe four course menu, choosing... More

Group of friends celebrated Sunday Brunch and this was my first visit. It is a very intimate space for about the same price as other high end brunch buffets, but the intimacy and attention of the wait staff and the personal oversight by Chef Akira himself is what makes this place stand out. The selection is not massive, but what... More

We went there for dinner. We chose Prix-Fixe four course menu. The food was cooked to perfection, very tasty and we enjoyed it.

This is a very expensive and somewhat tired restaurant; French Japanese fusion but actually the food was bland for us. We had the salmon (fishy) and the signature dish miso sea bass (very bland). Baked Alaska was a dramatically presented flaming dessert but the green tea ice cream inside had no taste. The next evening we were at the Embassy... More

Maison Akira has been a solid, steady Pasadena institution for some time. The ambience is pleasantly old fashioned, service attentive, friendly and courteous. The food is outstanding. Superbly chosen ingredients, carefully and expertly prepared along traditional lines. Very generous servings. Good wine list. Akira is always worth a visit for a relaxed and enjoyable meal.

Don't waste your time or money going to brunch here. The quality of the food was poor and the price was high for mediocre food. My husband was a gourmet chef and we ate at some of the finest restaurants in the world so I know good food! And this was not it!!

Memorable were the sashimi and oyster flan appetizer (quite pleasing), dashi broth with quennelle, venison medallions, duck breast with foie gras, and miso marinated Chilean sea bass. The last two were particularly enjoyable. Whether or not the goal was to harmonize French and Japanese cuisines, each dish felt pretty distinctly one or the other, with the "minor" cuisine providing accents.... More

I took my wife here and proposed to her a couple of years ago. I decided to take her for our wedding anniversary this year and was amazed when the Maitre D' recognised us. Chef Akira came out and greeted us, all in all a very special evening. We tried the Taster Menu, with paired wines. The range of flavours,... More
