I have been going to the Panda Inn since it first opened (probably 30 years ago). It started out as truly excellent, though the Chinese food scene then certainly wasn't what it is now. I love Chinese food, as does most of my family. I am not Chinese, but have many close friends who are, who take me to all... More

We have been trying out different Chinese restaurants lately and found ourselves in east Pasadena; decided to give it a try. It is the same family that own Panda Express chain restaurants but is not at all like the fast food places. We had great hot, sweet and sour soup, and one of the best Chinese chicken salads we've had... More

A noisy but great dining experience awaits at this popular and established Pasadena eateries. With lots of menu choices, there really is nothing to avoid. Good service and festive environment make this place a fun family dining destination. Two tips: parking lot is not very big, and reservations help cut the wait time. A nice alternative to corporate-owned chains.

Relaxed and casual atmosphere. Definately Westernised Chinese food, although the Ma Po Tofu and Chicken with Chilli and Cashews was reasonably authentically Cantonese. Food is good though. Portions are large. Service is friendly. Good for unpretentious group dining.

If you're in for big serving, go here. The chinese food is okay. Crispy noodles has too much noodles and little gravy to go with it. The chicken and the duck dishes we had look similar except for the sauce. The fried rice is a bit different from the Aussie Chinese Fried Rice, no way near our Aussie standard of... More

I pass by The Panda Inn at least once a day.If it's any where near a meal time i'm tempted to stop for either a noodle dish or moo shu pork. The Panda was one of the first Chinese restaurants in the area and has kept it's reputation up all these years. It's big, tables and booths, Chinese decor, take-out... More

Has private rooms for large groups. Was able to handle 10 people with different dietary needs. Good variety of luncheon choices. The meal and service was great.

We have been enjoying Panda Inn since we moved to the San Gabriel Valley in 1978. Originally we frequented their Glendale location, but after a few years transitioned to Pasadena. Our travels have taken us to many cities known for excellent Chinese cuisine, including Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Taipei, San Francisco, New York City, Sydney and Vancouver. Yet in spite... Description
Panda Inn is the source and original inspiration behind the nationally recognized Panda Express restaurants.
Andrew Cherng and his father, Master Chef Ming Tsai Cherng, opened the first Panda Inn in Pasadena, California in 1973. Their goal was to share the culinary arts of Mandarin and Szechuan cuisines with their local community by emphasizing the Chinese art of balancing tastes and textures to provide a dining experience that delights the senses.
Today, still family-owned with five locations in Southern California, Panda Inn honors over 40 years of heritage and takes great pride in serving delectable cuisine with attentive service in a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
