Scrumptious Lebanese/Armenian Food in Pasadena

Fantastic Lebanese/Armenian food prepared and served by a delightful and friendly staff. The babaghanouj was a dish of creamy perfection, and the lamb and lula skewers were amazing. Ended with a cup of rich, robust Armenian coffee. Feel free to ask me about it, as I will be awake for the next several days.

One of the best restaurants in Pasadena

I've eaten at Sahara hundreds of times. I've since moved from Pasadena, but whenever I get back to town, I make a pilgrimage here. On one of those trips I discovered Sahara had been sold. I was crushed. This had been a favorite restaurant for decades. Losing the previous owners was like losing family. But the good news was the food actually improved! It was always fresh, healthy, and delicious here. Now? Even more so! It's not sexy. It's not romantic. It is a store front. Even so, Sahara is one of the best restaurants in Pasadena.

Best Middle East restaurant in Pasadena

Very nice Lebanese-Armenian restaurant with big history. You can try hummus, mutabal, many types of kebabs. Beef kebab, chicken kebab was very nice

Could Be the Best Value in the San Gabriel Valley

My wife and I have been there twice in the last eight days. The staff greeted us like old friends on our second visit. The menu is exactly what one would expect at a Middle Eastern restaurant, the portions are generous, the prices are extremely reasonable, and the service is excellent. I would add a few Armenian wines to the short list, but otherwise I wouldn't change a thing.

Looking for a made to order tasty lunch? This is THE Place!

Stopped in at this place on a recommendation while visiting the area, and we were not disappointed. Although not fancy, it was the perfect stop for a quick lunch. You order at the counter, then they deliver your meal to the table. The Beef Kabob was very tender and flavorful, and although not normally a Hummus eater, their version was extremely tasteful and I would definitely dive in again. Great value, nice menu.

Best kabobs ever

Literally one of the best meals I have ever had. The beef and lamb was amazing, as was all of the sides we tried. Highly recommend trying this place.

Love me some hummus

We came here to celebrate Valentine's Day during the lunch hour because we didn't want to go out for dinner and wait for hours and get bad service at a fancy place. This is not a romantic place but they sure do serve some good fresh and delicious food at a reasonable price. I'm glad to see that they offer lunch specials at reasonable price and have it quickly brought to your table.

Good kabobs

Stopped by craving some Middle Eastern food. On my own, I stood at the counter under the "order here" sign while the older man there thoroughly ignored me as he added up the registers and fiddled with money. Eventually someone approached me from the side and took my order. Odd. My beef kabob 'lite lunch' had nicely done and tender beef, rice pilaf, tomato, onions, and a good supply of pita bread. Quite tasty. Next time I will go for hummus, and hope for a bit more attentive service.

Great value/good food

My family stopped in at lunch and loved the food. The lunch menu is very reasonable in price. I had the falafel plate and it was delicious!

There are better options

This may well be the best Mediterranean restaurant in Pasadena but it mediocre at best. While the lentil soup and kabobs were well cooked the lack of that mid-eastern flavor and spice made me think longingly of my favorite mid-eastern restaurant at home. The kabobs could really have used a garlic dipping sauce and the pita bread should have been served with some olive oil at least. Portions were generous the flavor was lacking. You have already read about the service so I won't say anything more.

Went to this place with a coworker to try a place we had never been we both are picky about our middle eastern food and this place made us happy. Flavor and portions for lunch were generous. I had lamb kabobs and she had Lula-lamb/beef mix. The hummas was perfect, bread was fresh, rice and cabbage salad were excellent. They were accommodating to swap rice for cabbage salad, grilled veggies or other options. We recommend and plan to return. Only slight complaint was the lamb was a little over cooked. Ambiance is nice. Plenty of space and parking in rear. Order at the counter and they serve the food.

The best in Pasadena

Pasadena is not a great town for Middle Eastern food but it has at least one good place. Their beef kabob is very tasty. You have to go to Westwood to get a meal that tops Sahara's. A very unassuming place.

Ok food, but nasty management

I ate here tonight for the first time. I have to say the service was pretty bad. I asked for help a few times and was told just a minute only to not have the person come back. But the worst part was when the manager came by I mentioned to him that the service was a problem. His response was frankly nasty and unprofessional. He barked at me that this was not a fast food place, as if I were the type of person who frequented fast food places and just didn't know how to act in a regular restaurant. When I tried to explain to him what I meant he said, "well, 25 years apparently we're doing a good job," and then just walked away. I was appalled. I have never been talked to by a manager like that before. And I have to say, the food was good, but not great. We had lula and I have definitely had more tasty lula, for example at Carousel. In addition, we got there before 7, and were told that they were out of three of their specialty dishes. Amazing. Well, I might have gone back, but I will never go there again after the way I was talked to. this place is just not good enough to take that kind of treatment.

Last Good Middle Eastern Food Left in Town

There are many middle eastern food places in Pasadena, but this is now the best with several others falling to the wayside. Check their schedule for they have limited times open. Just plan ahead for fine sharma and kebobs, etc
