This is one of the best Dim Sum's I've been to. It is a bit different as the food does not come by in carts for you to choose from, but rather you choose from the menu and it is brought to your table. Everything we ordered was truly delicious. Make reservations in advance because the place is packed.

Visited late on a busy Sunday afternoon. Service was brusque. Dim sum was OK, but below par for Bay Area. Cheapest dim sum items were $6.80. Ordinary noodles with meat $16.00. $ 41 plus tip for three dim sum plus noodles is just wrong.

This is an out of towner perspective (cannot compare to nearby dim sum) and also not a dim sum expert. The dim sum tasted quality because it was not greasy. Prices were reasonable (not cheap) and the ambiance was fit for special occasions. Large round tables good for groups. Free parking around the corner.

My visiting friend wanted dim sum nearby. So I took him to Tai Pan. It was a mistake. The quality of food was visibly (or tastibly?) worse than last time I was there 5 months ago. The price was high. We ordered ribs for $12, chicken feet for $5.8. etc. None was up to our expectations. The service was slow.... More

We visited last night for a group birthday dinner. The big round tables are great for conversation. We ordered a large variety of items and all of them were well made. Note that their 'spicy' dishes are not hot at all so don't be concerned about ordering them The service was excellent. The prices are about 40% higher than Chef... More

This is a good restaurant for both large and small groups. The service is excellent. All the servers were equally attentive to us during dinner. Some of the items on the menu are really good, e.g., the Hot and Sour Soup is probably the best I've ever had. Some items are interesting, e.g., the firecracker chicken was unlike anything I've... Go with a group to best experience all the excellent Dim Sum choices. While not a "Cart" style, the table delivered delicacies were perfectly prepared. Somewhat pricey but well worth it.

I have been eating in this restaurant for the past 10 years or so, starting in 2004. They have elegant Chinese setting, fine Chinese brush painting and refine setting for a fine dinning Chinese restaurant. They offer Cantonese cuisine, mainly dim sum at day time and fine dinning in the evening. It's pricy but food quality is great. Their business... More

We were just looking for a Chinese restaurant and went in on the off-chance. Sometimes you make the right decision. Very welcoming, full of people - both good signs. Excellent service and though crowded, we could talk quietly across the table. And no-one tried to hurry us on. We decided to go for something original - succulent crab claws followed... More

We couldn't have had a nicer elegant lunch experience at Tai Pan. I thought I knew all the reputable dim sum places on the Peninsula. Tai Pan provided us a beautiful ambience, very good service and delicious dim sum options for our party of four.
