Always good food but the mahi mahi sliders with their ginger zing are delicious. You can ask for them even if they are not listed.

Early dinner on a Sunday evening while in town for Stanford appointment. Parking lot is a good size. Place was busy but we were seated immediately. Building has real character. Husband had the halibut which was a small portion but excellent. I had cashew crusted rainbow trout, which was also good. Waiter was attentive & we were in & out... More

Good spot for larger family groups. However, neither the best service nor great food - both were quite average. Perhaps we did not order the "right" selections. We had linguine with clams and steamed mussels.

I've eaten at The Fish Market for many years. My meals have always been well prepared and served by efficient and cheerful servers. I give them 5 stars not becasuse they are creating imaginative and ground breaking dining experiences, but because they manage to deliver consistantly delicious (if generally mainstream) dishes, year over year. They must be doing something right!

7 family members went to The Fish Market last night celebrating someone's birthday. Service, as always was very good, we had never ending fresh bread and butter, drinks when ordered and very good fresh fish. At our table was chiopino, crab salad sandwich, sushi, calimare, shrimp with linguine, bucket of clams and mussels. For the birthday celebration was 2 yummy... More

We frequent The Fish Market weekly. Maybe even more. The fresh fish is wonderful and the service is excellent. They are going through a transition right now, but bear with them because it is an excellent place to go!

The first visit here found the food pretty wonderful and the service somewhat iffy. The second visit was quite the opposite. The service was fabulous... if only the food was too. We ordered swordfish and halibut. Both plates came out cold, but the swordfish was not even recognizable as swordfish...or any other fish. Not sure what in the world was... More

Went on the recommendation of our hotel. Oysters were fantastic, but the rest of our meal (pasta) was just average. Service was poor. We were seated outside and the restaurant was scheduled to be open for another hour, yet the staff locked up the empty tables with cables and turned off all the outside lights in the middle of our... The Fish Market was very accommodating for a last-minute large dinner group. Our group of about 14 was promptly seated, and ordered a variety of dishes. All in all, we heard very few complaints (and a lot of praises) from the whole group. The two servers assigned to our group were fantastic, quick, and extremely friendly. I ended up with... More

The concierge at our hotel recommended The Fish Market for their Early Bird Special (weeknight 4pm-6pm) as we needed to eat early. We'd been there for lunch so knew the food was good. But sometimes you just don't know about these specials. Great choices! We opted for the panko crusted fish and chips with a salad. And, of course, The... More

Description
Our first restaurant has been a Palo Alto institution since its doors opened in 1976. With the brand new addition of an oyster bar, cocktail bar and lounge area, there are now even more ways to experience this unique restaurant. The expansive retail market remains a popular stop for local residents seeking to take home the finest in fresh fish.
