I thought the service was good. However, I was not pleased with my meal. I did not think my dish had much flavor, nor did my husband think his was great. Bread was very good, however.

Anytime I get a chance I would treat myself to some of the best Italian-Continental food offered by Osteria.. I hadn't been in the restaurant since a change of ownership 7-8 months ago. Some staff left with the change but those that remained heralded the change. As always it was very busy (Friday, 6:30pm) and evening was booked. We didn't... More

Throwback to old-fashion service and food. Food is good, kinda heavy for lunch. Menu is pretty extensive for lunch.

Osteria used to be one of the most wonderful places to go for dinner. The food was great, the ambience super and the service fantastic! What a shame that the restaurant was sold. The new owners obviously don't care at all since the food is now about 50% higher in price and even worse, the quality and taste is just... More

This was highly rated on other sites. We watched many people come and go for take out. Our waiter was cheerful and friendly. But as we sat it was clear regular patrons received a different level of attention. The table next to ours was offered a list of 6 "daily specials". Our waiter shared only 2 specials of the day.... I used to come here 2 or 3 times a week. Then the restaurant was sold last year and everything went downhill-fast. Having been there for dinner just after they sold, and being so disappointed, we did not go back until today for lunch. We were with friends and we went early. The restaurant was completely empty. There was a... More

Senior citizen talking to other seniors: Sorry to read recent negative reviews, because this place is still pretty good. May not be the same as five years ago, but what is? We had a very nice dinner, high quality food, competent service. It is indeed very crowded and noisy and somewhat expensive, but that's part of its charm, and seniors... More

A longtime standby in Palo Alto. Park under City Hall. A small restaurant ...noise level ok in the front part but gets VERY NOISY in the back.. If you have a group of more than four, it will be difficult to converse in the back room. Osteria has THE WORLD's BEST carpaccio . and I have tried carpaccio all over... More

One of our favorite restaurants for 20 years. It was remarkably consistent in its food, service and atmosphere. Evidently it was recently sold, and is now a shell of its former self. The menu was similar, but the food was a shadow of what it was and the prices much higher. Most of our favorite waitstaff were gone. Overall, a... More

After eating at Osteria for over 10 years, today it was last time for my husband and me. Our waiter mentioned new ownership but he said there was no change in food served since the restaurant was so successful the way it was. Salads arrived after a reasonable wait. Both were OK but not great. Mine did not have all... More
