Great experience...bustling, busy with great service. Bar eating as well as tables and family style table Highly recommend the calamari, shrimp ... if you like spicy order the condiments with fresh chiles ... did not enjoy the lamb chops

I always enjoy the imaginative menu with lots of interesting items. The basics are Vietnamese with a California influence. I like to go there for special occasions or with out of town visitors to give them a taste of something different.

OK, there are lots of good restaurants in Palo Alto as there is a lot of moola to support them. But as infrequently as I get to Palo Alto, I am inexorably pulled to Tamarine. It is on the quiet side up University so you can avoid a lot of the congestion. And the servers are gracious, the food interesting... More

Tamarine has it all: Delicious food, splendid presentation, attractive ambiance and impeccable service. It is definitely not your traditional Vietnamese restaurant, the menu definitely has quite a few Vietnamese ingredients, but most dishes reflect a modern California slant in terms of preparation and presentation. Among the entrees, Clay Pot Cod, Shaking Beef, Hoisin Lamb Chops and Lemongrass Seabass are a... More

Loved It... One of the best in town. Hipster... Crowded and a bit noisy but with a very palo alto vive.

Returned to this perennial favorite with a large group, while heretofore have experienced this restaurant with no more than four...disappointed with the quality...tired many different dishes so truly experienced the breadth of the menu, but was surprised that not one dish was off the chart fantastic...lots of good dishes...beef, lamb chops, green beans, shrimp app, but veggie spring rolls, fish... Came over from Stanford to have a quick lunch... They offer a special lunch for those in a rush to get you out in an hour with a warm cookie but we decided to order from the menu. The Taro Root Rolls was tasty as an appetizer but be careful, they are fresh and hot straight from the fryer. The... More

We go there on special occasions about 3 times a year. The food and service are excellent, and the art is pretty good too. But this restaurant's prices are rather high. Although we never order any alcoholic beverages, the bill for 6 people is usually around $200.

Tamarine is a contemporary Vietnamese restaurant that features the light but flavor-intensive culinary delicacies of Vietnam. The restaurant offers a menu based on small plates, promoting the Vietnamese tradition of the 'shared' meal in which food is shared and enjoyed with those close. Tamarine's small plate entrees are enjoyed with the pairing of a variety of aromatic, flavor infused rice, designed to be mixed and matched to create a truly unique flavor experience. Along with culinary delicacies of Vietnam, the restaurant showcases the works of emerging artists from Vietnam and other Southeast Asian countries. Semi-annual exhibits will close with a cocktail event to auction the art. Proceeds will be donated to La Maison Chance, an orphanage in Saigon, Vietnam.
