not the best Italian restaurant in town but they have great service. Had breakfast here and everything went smoothly.

I left California three years ago and returned for a visit. I had il Fornaio on my list of restaurants to eat. Service was excellent and my simple Capalini was just as I remembered. Just make sure to be seated in the front of the house unless you have a large party.

Il Fornaio has a regular Italian menu, but it also features food from different regions in Italy about every month. This month was Lombardy, and as always, we choose the tasting menu to get a variety of food, accompanied by a wine flight that features appropriate wine from the area to accompany each course. Sadly, this month's tasting menu did... More

Our son recently was married in Menlo Park, and we had the rehearsal dinner, for about 60 people, on the patio at Il Fornaio in Palo Alto. By all accounts our guests had a great time! The wines and passed appetizers (especially the little pizzas!) were delicious, as were the entrees and dessert platters. Service was impeccable. I was a... More

Had a 3 course business lunch with salad , salmon and tiramisu. Their Salmon roasted in a wood fired oven is always delicious. This time though the dish was not piping hot. May have sat in the kitchen for a while.

We used to come many times a week to this place when we lived in Palo alto many years ago. It was always full, now you have a lot of free tables, but the food is always excellent and the service absolutely perfect. The location of this restaurant makes is very convenient for the people who are down town Palo.... More

I have eaten at Il Fornaio many, many times on business and personally. I love their minestrone soup and their rotisserie chicken. Actually, everything I've ever eaten there has been wonderful. Sometimes I've wanted a simple meal when traveling on business so I go in and get the minestrone soup to go. Warm and wonderful! Great service. Beautiful, relaxed atmosphere.... More

We have been to this restaurant a few times. The fried calamari appetizer was excellent. My husband had linguine mare chiaro; the sauce was delicious, but the shrimps and scallops were overcooked and dry. I had Grigliata di Pesce Misto (seafood combination) for $29.95, but due to the small volume of seafood actually included, I felt it was overpriced. The... More

Swing by IF for breakfast the other day. Wonderful service and food. The French Toast was perfect and the coffee superb. I'll be back.
