We met friends in PS and went with them to Jake's. We made reservations about a month before and we all knew what we wanted. They did not disappoint. The food, service and libations were wonderful and were provided by friendly, professional staff. We now...have a new "must go to" restaurant when we visit. CheersMore

Our best experience during our 5-day stay in PS. Delicious salads, kickass martinis and a friendly but very professional staff. It's compact but somehow that adds to the upbeat vibe. Absolutely a winner for us.

My husband and I went here with 2 friends for lunch on a Sunday. We had reservations for noon and still had to wait approximately 20 minutes for a table. When you walk in to the servers station, there was a line of people that...spanned out onto the sidewalk, which was very annoying and cumbersome for people waiting as well as people eating at tables outside. I truly feel like there could be a better system for checking parties in. So, after waiting 20 minutes, we were seated on their inside patio, which was nice. It took a few minutes for our server to come to our table, but we started with drinks and I had the watermelon margarita, which was very good. Others in our party had the spicy pineapple margarita (excellent) and the jake's mimosa (excellent). I had the hanger steak and egg sandwich. It was ok. I did not like the gorgonzola cheese on the sandwich, which I feel took away from the flavor of the sandwich. The sandwiches do not come with any sides, so I ordered the truffle tots to share with the table and they were exceptional. The only thing with the tots is that they came to the table about 10 minutes after the entrees arrived. And, we asked the server a couple of times about them and they said they are coming out. Others in our party had the avocado toast (excellent), the french toast sandwich (excellent) and the miami vice salad (excellent). We finished our lunches and had to flag down our server to get our check. Then, once they brought the check, the server took another 20 minutes or so just to come pick it up with our cards in it. Basically, some of the food and drinks were good, but overall I was not impressed and most likely will not be back.More

Friendly waiter. Excellent bloody mary. Pretty, cool patio was great. Rude, cold host wasn’t a great start. Food was okay- lobster roll has so much mayo you can’t taste the lobster- kind of the opposite of a Maine lobster roll. Steak sandwich is tasty. Breakfast...potatoes were raw and had barely any seasoning. Fine, but not worth the $35 a person price tag in my opinion.More

Interesting menu with delicious food. Nice touch: complimentary "amuse-gueule" and after dinner "sweet bite". Desserts are a must so save room. Great service from Ashley and from Mario the busboy. Loved it all. Atmosphere and the initial welcome could show improvement.

Service was good in beginning but once other white patrons arrived we were forgotten about and never asked if we needed a refill on drinks or if everything was ok the server would ask everyone in our section except us maybe because we are Latin...and the other patrons including the server were all white folk ! Never coming back here againMore

Mr. Wilde is famously quoted, "Everything popular is wrong." So, yes, I've read the good reviews and hype. But last night's experience proved that this place is basically a cosmetically-enhanced Elmers. It does what it does with minimal regard for the customer's experience, and you...have to be ready for that, as in most tourist restaurants. For that's what this is, quick and dirty. You might not even notice amid all the hype and buzz, but look deeper. This place does not have it down and is coasting on the buzz. The check-in and seating experience was a bit frazzled, even having made a reservation. Like a lot of things here, it's sort of an unorganized process. I'll give them that it was a weekend night in season, but you know when the hostess comes to your table 45 minutes after being seated and asks for the name on your reservation, something is way off. We ordered cocktails which arrived in short order. So did the appetizer and salad course. Then...a black hole. People seated well after us had finished their entrees and we still didn't have ours. So, an hour and a half after being seated, we asked if someone could check on our entrees. We got an answer, "They're working on it. It really goes better if I'm back there prodding them!" That didn't seem to be true for everyone around us. Ten minutes later, my seafood pad thai arrived, with lukewarm noodles that were al dente times two and shrimp that were barely warm and squeaked on my teeth. My dining companion agreed about the noodles but said I was being excessive about the shrimp. By this time we were down two or three test shrimp. When the server reappeared with, "How is everything?" I said, "These noodles are not fully cooked." She said, "OK, hold on, I'll have them redo the dish." And hurried off. Ten more minutes, the "redo" arrived, and I was about to hand off the first attempt when my companion said, "Don't do that, the new plate is just noodles." Sure enough. At this point what remaining seafood there was was stone cold and my companion had cherry picked some of it. "What is that? Oh, it's a scallop!" The server said, "Oh, my, we don't have any protein, do we?" I wasn't sure if that was a comment on the new plate or the old, so I lost my patience and said, "Please just take away both plates, this was just wrong from the start." They removed the entree from the bill and comped the extra glass of wine I got because I drank the first one that arrived after the salad in waiting so long for the entree. FYI, I tipped the server as if the entree and the wine were still included in the bill. This left me thinking: yes, I get the good cop/bad cop relationship servers can have with the kitchen. But if something goes wrong, an honest explanation is best, and then a real visible effort to make things right. Both of these were absent at Jake's. At any restaurant remotely resembling "fine dining," a manager would have shown up at the table to confer about this experience. I hate when that happens, I hate having the conversation, I hate the apologies, perfunctory or otherwise, and I hate pondering if it was the circumstances or my own declining mood that led up to it all. But the fact is, this is a business where the customer's experience matters. Except, not here.More

Jake’s is one of our most favorite restaurants in Palm Springs. We have done both take out and outside eating during the pandemic several times, and I felt it was finally time to recognize the greatness of Jake’s. This past week we had lunch with...a friend who was in town. Our friend, who has probably had hundreds of different bloody Mary’s over her lifetime around the world, said this is the best one she’s ever had, anywhere. While I don’t drink, Jakes has always made tremendous accommodations to provide inventive nonalcoholic alternatives, this time a muddled blood orange cocktail that was delicious. Service is also fantastic, always prompt, friendly and accommodating. The food was delicious, as always. I had a chopped salad with shrimp that was so generous I could not finish it, and it was fresh and flavorful. Our friend had the BLT softshell crab, which is a house favorite and usually what I order, as it’s inventive and interesting with great texture. I would also highly recommend the garlic fries, but order them as your entrée arrives as they arrive hot and tasty within five minutes. The outdoor dining is very safe and comfortable. But while outdoor dining was closed a few months ago, we had Jake’s deliver dinner and unfortunately they forgot one of our rib entrées. Not only did they return 20 minutes with the order, but brought a couple of cake desserts for our group just for the inconvenience. While unnecessary, it was much appreciated and just the kind of finishing touch that Jake’s does to provide great service and a great experience. We look forward to coming back for breakfast, lunch or dinner, as it’s always one of our favorites!More

Several different patio areas are now open, so tables are spread out. The service was excellent, which is a hard thing to find these days. The complimentary amuse bouche of blood orange with goat cheese was excellent. The main food was good, not outstanding, but...had good vegetarian options. The desserts were amazing! We took a piece of the coconut cake and the banana toffee cake to-go, after our meal. They were so good, but one piece could easily be shared by two or three people. We would definitely come back for dessert.More
