First visit to Jakes, Palm Springs. Our experience was excellent. From the seating to the end of the meal every thing was first class. I suggest a reservation. We arrived for a 5:30 reservation and were pleasantly surprised as it looked like not a very busy place and we could have choice of seating. However were told we had the last reservation and that all other seats were taken. We were seated in a very nice location inside and were promptly attend by our server. The menu looked very nice with good selections (not much for small plates if you wish a small meal, only a mention by some at the table). Prior to the meal we were treated to small bread appys and warm bread. The meals arrived on time and were all hot as expected. I had the Chicken Marsala and highly recommend as it was perfectly done, moist and spot on seasoning. Recommend you reserve early and on the outside patio as seating is limited. One suggestion is protein Addis’s to some of the salad choices.

This gem was a wonderful find in Palm Springs. We’d walked by several times during our stay and beer really took notice. Take Notice! This is worth your attention. Once we got inside the open air covered patio, the atmosphere was intimate and welcoming. Both my husband and I chose the three-course dinner special, which included soup or salad, a choice of entree, and a choice from their fabulous, homemade dessert menu. I started with the little gems salad, which included a salty, tangy anchovy dressing over greens, sweet dates and tomatoes. The contrast between the dates and the salty anchovy dressing was diving. My husband chose a corn chowder with mushrooms. It was rich and buttery and full of flavor. For the main course, I chose eggplant. It was lightly breaded and pan fried, topped with a light tomato sauce and garnished with fresh steamed asparagus. The eggplant was perfectly prepared. The crust was crispy and not greasy. The eggplant was firm and delicious. My husband selected meatloaf macaroni and cheese. The creamy Mac and cheese paired nicely with the Tangy sweetness of the meatloaf. Finally, I selected a vanilla salted Carmel cake and my husband chose Key Lime pie. Both desserts were heavenly. They will make a delicious breakfast. Both desserts were large and we brought some back with us. The staff was friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating. Definitely a place you will love to visit.

We were 2 couples and had: Chilean sea bass which was excellent; very good baby back ribs and filet mignon. Drinks were rather overpriced at $16 for a pear martini and $14 for a glass of Pinot Grigio. The bread was quite ordinary and the weakest part of the meal. Key lime tart was excellent but the various cakes were a little dry. Service was good.

We went to Jake’s at 664 N.Palm Canyon Dr 2 years ago & loved it. During that visit my husband & I had both had the swordfish special ($30 each / per serving). It was absolutely delicious. We enjoyed a bottle of white wine (Ferrari-Carano Fume) with the fish. Very enjoyable dinner and evening. On our 2nd visit we both ordered the Duck Confit special ($28 each / per serving) we both love duck confit). It turned out to be just a pasta dish with little to no duck. My husband & I both said - where’s the duck? Needless to say we were disappointed. The pasta was good but just not what we were expecting. We expected to taste & see pieces of duck confit (which is so delicious). We did enjoy a bottle of Josh red wine. On both visits we didn’t have room for desserts but they look amazing. Checkout the display case and you will be tempted. Reservations are strongly recommended for this always popular restaurant. Seating is available at the bar or at tables under a canopy with heaters in the courtyard. There are also a couple of tables outside (street side) near the entrance. Al fresco dining at its best. Service on both visits was friendly & helpful. We will return hoping to experience another memorable meal like our first visit.

Rude, unaccommodating, trying to think of other adjectives to describe our disappointment that despite their GIANT dessert case, you can’t take any cake to go. YET...you can’t go in to dine and only have dessert AND drinks. They had at least 7 tables open on the patio, so I guess they didn’t want to make money? The only place you can go to have JUST cake is at the bar, where there are 6 seats, all full. Ridiculous.

Yes that is our policy! I see from all your reviews that you go to these websites to trash businesses with your mostly 1 and 2 star reviews! We do not seat tables for just dessert. That big dessert case is filled with cakes for our diners who have lunch dinner or brunch. If we allowed people to take cake to go we would not have enough for those who made a reservation, had a meal, or walked in and had a meal. That’s how we make sales! Not by allowing anyone anytime to sit at our tables for just dessert. Those are our rules and honestly no one was rude to you. You are entitled and could not get what you want so you say we are rude. This review is ridiculous

My husband and I went here with 2 friends for lunch on a Sunday. We had reservations for noon and still had to wait approximately 20 minutes for a table. When you walk in to the servers station, there was a line of people that spanned out onto the sidewalk, which was very annoying and cumbersome for people waiting as well as people eating at tables outside. I truly feel like there could be a better system for checking parties in. So, after waiting 20 minutes, we were seated on their inside patio, which was nice. It took a few minutes for our server to come to our table, but we started with drinks and I had the watermelon margarita, which was very good. Others in our party had the spicy pineapple margarita (excellent) and the jake's mimosa (excellent). I had the hanger steak and egg sandwich. It was ok. I did not like the gorgonzola cheese on the sandwich, which I feel took away from the flavor of the sandwich. The sandwiches do not come with any sides, so I ordered the truffle tots to share with the table and they were exceptional. The only thing with the tots is that they came to the table about 10 minutes after the entrees arrived. And, we asked the server a couple of times about them and they said they are coming out. Others in our party had the avocado toast (excellent), the french toast sandwich (excellent) and the miami vice salad (excellent). We finished our lunches and had to flag down our server to get our check. Then, once they brought the check, the server took another 20 minutes or so just to come pick it up with our cards in it. Basically, some of the food and drinks were good, but overall I was not impressed and most likely will not be back.

Jake’s is one of our most favorite restaurants in Palm Springs. We have done both take out and outside eating during the pandemic several times, and I felt it was finally time to recognize the greatness of Jake’s. This past week we had lunch with a friend who was in town. Our friend, who has probably had hundreds of different bloody Mary’s over her lifetime around the world, said this is the best one she’s ever had, anywhere. While I don’t drink, Jakes has always made tremendous accommodations to provide inventive nonalcoholic alternatives, this time a muddled blood orange cocktail that was delicious. Service is also fantastic, always prompt, friendly and accommodating. The food was delicious, as always. I had a chopped salad with shrimp that was so generous I could not finish it, and it was fresh and flavorful. Our friend had the BLT softshell crab, which is a house favorite and usually what I order, as it’s inventive and interesting with great texture. I would also highly recommend the garlic fries, but order them as your entrée arrives as they arrive hot and tasty within five minutes. The outdoor dining is very safe and comfortable. But while outdoor dining was closed a few months ago, we had Jake’s deliver dinner and unfortunately they forgot one of our rib entrées. Not only did they return 20 minutes with the order, but brought a couple of cake desserts for our group just for the inconvenience. While unnecessary, it was much appreciated and just the kind of finishing touch that Jake’s does to provide great service and a great experience. We look forward to coming back for breakfast, lunch or dinner, as it’s always one of our favorites!

Several different patio areas are now open, so tables are spread out. The service was excellent, which is a hard thing to find these days. The complimentary amuse bouche of blood orange with goat cheese was excellent. The main food was good, not outstanding, but had good vegetarian options. The desserts were amazing! We took a piece of the coconut cake and the banana toffee cake to-go, after our meal. They were so good, but one piece could easily be shared by two or three people. We would definitely come back for dessert.

O.k. I admit it, we were at Jake's 3 times during our 10 days in Palm Springs, and yes, each time we shared a piece of their outstanding cakes. But, if you came only to Jake's for the cake, you'd be missing out on everything else Jake's does well. Lunch, dinner, it doesn't matter, on each and every occasion every one of our meals was absolutely delicious. The service is excellent as well as the management. The ambiance is also great; we've been by the window inside, in the open dining area and outside (and once even at the table by the cake display counter--way too tempting!), and I don't think there's a bad table in the place. Jake's really hits the sweet spot, not just for the cakes, but for providing excellent quality food in a casual, totally classic Palm Spring's vibe.

Every time we go to Palm Springs, it's a must to go to Jake's. Always have great food and attentive service. All their drinks are great and we have never been disappointed with anything we have ordered. This time we ordered the pasta lunch and the fish & chips. Now you might think, really just plain old fish & chip, well knowing how everything else is so good, I tired the fish & chips and I was really happy with my order, in fact, there's a good chance I'll be ordering it again. Be sure to make a reservation as this is a very popular place and lucky for them the landlord next store allowed Jake's to expand their patio onto his property, which was very nice of him.

Celebrated a friend's birthday here because we always enjoy a lunch at Jakes'. We all had the soft Shell Crab BLT which we all enjoyed. It comes with a nice mixed green salad. We all had unsweetened ice tea and instead of waiting for refills we were served a small pitcher. Desert was the caramel vanilla cake. Delicious and served with a sparkler to make the occasion special. This is our never disappointing go to restaurant.

Can't say enough good things about this restaurant. We sat on the patio and it was a great experience all the way around. Starting with crafted cocktails to appetizers to entrees to fantastic - very big slices - desserts. Our waitress, Ashley, was so great with our group. Regarding the cocktails, she asked what type of liquor you liked and then she surprised you. This is because their craft cocktail menu has so many options and it was hard to choose. We met the owners too who are super friendly. Definitely will be back again.

Friendly waiter. Excellent bloody mary. Pretty, cool patio was great. Rude, cold host wasn’t a great start. Food was okay- lobster roll has so much mayo you can’t taste the lobster- kind of the opposite of a Maine lobster roll. Steak sandwich is tasty. Breakfast potatoes were raw and had barely any seasoning. Fine, but not worth the $35 a person price tag in my opinion.

We had a 7 pm reservation. We were seated promptly, ordered a drink, a bottle of wine and an app. The app came promptly, as did the alcohol, whereupon we ordered entrees. Our server did check on us periodically, “are you guys ok?? “We just thought the kitchen was slow (not her fault) and she was trying to be nice. At 8:20, having eaten the app and drunk the cocktail and whole bottle, one of us ordered an additional glass, whereupon our server again asked, “are you guys OK?” and we politely said yes, but with quizzical looks on our faces, which triggered: “I mean, did you want me to tell them to fire up your entrees?’” WTF??? At no point did we even hint that we wanted to control the process or delay the usual process in any restaurant we’ve been to on this planet. At 8:45 our entrees arrived. Great food, but still, I’m confused. What were we supposed to do here?

We are locals and we've been to Jake's twice. A fine place if you want to be treated with rudeness and disrespect. Sadly, we took 6 friends from out of town and they all said the hostess was the rudest person ever and the food was blah. There are too many other good restaurants to try this one.
