Not only is there pizza to die for, but so is just about everything else on the menu. The happy hour is definitely one of the best in Palm Springs and the wine list is extensive for those who like to try new things. This is the perfect place for a date night or a family dinner out and the... More

Matchbox has great food and wine. Never have to wait for a seat, and prompt service. Love people watching from above, too!

Popped in for happy hour. Ordered 5 items off HH menu. Every one of them outstanding. Great, thin crust pizza and the mini burgers were my personal favorite. Would definitely return.

We shared the meatball appetizer and it was really good--nice red sauce. I had the apple pear salad with chicken and my husband had the pork chop. The cauliflower "mashed potatoes" were really good, the pork chop was good but could have had a bit more flavor--not at all bad though. Would love to come back and try the pizza!

Soon after beginning my annual visits to Palm Springs in 1997, I discovered The Falls: a second-floor, upscale restaurant with balcony street-view seats for diners, and a beautifully appointed bar (complete with working falls, of course). As good as the food could be, it was the chance to have a properly made James Bond martini (a.k.a. Vesper, using Kina Lillet... More

Matchbox is on the second story of a building in downtown Palm Springs. We sat in the outdoor breezeway, which is essentially like a patio with 2 walls. It was a perfect night to eat outside. The staff was friendly and attentive. The food was good and the portions seemed large. I have eaten at Matchbox in the past, and... More

We were here three years ago and had repeat visits but it's changed. It is really now mainly pizza and we had difficulty finding a choice of main course. Service was good but we will not go back. It was also almost empty despite everywhere else being busy. It's probably good for pizza not good dining.

We stopped by Matchbox on a Monday...the temperature outside was 125F, so we knew we'd have to eat inside this time. We arrived just after 4pm for happy hour. We typically like to eat out on one of the balconies, but it was just too hot. We sat down, ordered a couple of drinks, calamari, and the spicy ahi tempura... More

When you walk into Matchbox it seems to keep going and going. There are lots of little areas for both indoor and outdoor seating. The food was very good but, typical for Palm Springs, it was very expensive.

Description
what makes a great pizza? It starts with a great oven! Ours is an authentic wood- fired masonry oven where the fire has burned constantly since the day we opened. Modern gas and electric ovens cannot produce the intense heat needed – over 800 degrees – to achieve the crispy, smoky crust that our oven provides. With dough made fresh daily in-house, our goal is to make the best pizza in Palm Springs!the space. The challenge? How do you build distinctive restaurants in unique urban spaces? Our original location in the Chinatown neighborhood of Washington, DC was a Chinese grocery in a structure 15 feet wide and three stories tall. Our newest location in the Capitol Hill neighborhood of Washington was a 90 year old vending machine warehouse. matchbox Palm Springs was opened in 2005 in a second floor location with spectacular views of Mt St. Jacinto and Palm Canyon Drive. Our partnership group, with backgrounds in restaurant operations and construction simply have a great time designing and building all of our projects!
