I went with a group of friends who had all been there before. They all told me to expect good things from the food. I wasn't disappointed. We all started with a very good, very fresh gazpacho. It was smooth and cooling. From there I...had the lobster salad appetizer. There was a good amount of lobster that was cooked perfectly. As an entree I had the roast duck with cherry sauce. I think it may have been the best duck dish I've ever had. I would go back for that alone. We skipped desert because we had patio seating and it started to sprinkle. We left just in time to avoid the rain. The one disappointment it was that an earlier party ordered all the bottles of the wine I wanted. The substitute was very good.More

This review is about the owner, and not the service staff or the food. My wife and I each had the $88 prix fixe dinner on Christmas Eve with one $16 glass of house wine. I signed the credit card slip for $290.00, but my...American Express bill came through for $536.36. I contacted the owner, Omar, several times by phone, text, and e-mail to try to straighten it out. I also sent him a copy of the credit receipt and AMEX’s transaction record. Omar’s last text response was: “I know that sometimes it put the real price only when it’s posted For ex. At gas station I always have 100 charge until the real charge is processed Plus our ticket shows the correct price” That was not accurate, and Omar did not rescind his $246.36 overcharge, which he could have done in 10 minutes. I had to file a dispute with American Express and provide my copy of the receipt and a detailed narrative in order to get Les Vallaruis’ overcharge rescinded, which took AMEX six weeks. I seldom post anything critical of a business on TripAdvisor, as you can see in my 46 other reviews. If you decide to dine at Le Vallaruris, beware of using a credit card there, pay with cash; for God’s sake don’t let them near your debit card, and save your receipt!More

Very famous and deservedly so. Great classic dishes. Wonderful and friendly service. Excellent wine menu as well. Indoor or outdoor, all very beautiful. Excellent for special occasions. Prix Fixe menu is great.

The food is good but the offerings beyond lobster and caviar are rather limited. The atmosphere is precious - overly fawning and pretentious.

We had a fabulous experience at this restaurant. The beautiful patio with large mature trees and romantic lighting was magic. We ordered the three course pre-fixe menu and were very pleased. My wife loved her asparagus egg salad and I my crunchy scallops with green...apple dressing. We both thought the lamb loin was excellent. The trio of sorbets was an underwhelming dessert. In general, the food was much better than we had expected. Our waiter was perfect.More

Where to begin? We had such a lovely dinner at Le Vaullauris recently. Excellent food including a roast duck main course, served with a red wine cherry sauce, rack of lamb, a smoke salmon appetizer, and decadently delicious desserts of Grand Marnier souffle and a...tart tatin with vanilla ice cream. Wine list is full of very expensive choices but you can do well at the bottom end of the list too. We drank a perfectly delightful 2016 Frank Family Zinfandel, priced at $75. Service was professional but not stiff. Everyone we dealt with strove to make us feel at home. The decor and atmosphere of the terrace are terrific.More

I went there for food because well, I am a foodie. Yes, the food rivaled those with Michelin stars. What will last in my mind began the second I arrived. I was welcomed like a VIP. Walked into a garden courtyard. Seated in a linen...covered table below towering trees. The daily special board was placed in front of me along with a Keenan Chardonnay. Okay, this is going well. Vichyssoise and Boston Scallops inspired my sense of texture and taste. They did not disappoint. Spectacular in taste and presentation! I selected a by the glass Graves Bordeaux. A terrific meal, especially with a large group. Our group of over 25 people was well served by seasoned professional wait staff. Everyone's dishes were perfectly served and presented. I can say that the escargots appetizer, lamb filet main and dessert soufflet were all wonderful....Not a fan of being taken advantage of though - their wine list is unreasonable, being overpriced (a less than $20 bottle was $60 or more). Go there for the food, not the wine!More

We arrived 7pm and were seated accordingly. We were asked if we would like a drink. I said lemon drop for my wife and water for me but I will have wine with my entree. I wsa asked "would you like the wine now": No...because I have not seen the menu. We both ordered blue crab with mango and avacado. 2 minutes later a waiter brought soup?? Which we said we did not order. So 10 minutes later we has our appetizer which was very good. The waiter removed to plates and we expected the wine list!! No they brought the entrees. I was have chillean sea bass and my wife beef cheeks, I said where is the wine list? The waiter returned and before I openned it said "I recommend sancerre; it is like a Cab" I was schocked because I have been to Univeristy to study wine and go to Napa frequently. He obviously made a slip. I have been here several times and seen the waiter. The entree was very good except the sauce for the fish was too strong; however it was good with a small amount. The witer was arrogant and I felt he was contemptuous. It is French style food but far inferior to La Folie in San Francisco where we were 2 weeks ago. Probably close to Cuistot also in Palm Springs. We talked to Paul Bruggemans the owner as usual about Picasso and and Zurich. I did not mention the service; however we will NOT go back. Very good atmosphere, food and disgusting service. It implies fine dining but compared to San Francisco it is mediocre. We did not stay for dessert. Potentially a good evening spoiled by an arrogant waiter.More
