Shanghai Red's is trading on its reputation of days gone by. We have been to PS multiple times over the last 20 years and never been there until this last visit. We had heard good things about the food and the shrimp tacos were recommended....We each had a MGD (or something like that), split a Caesar salad $11, and two tacos apiece. With tax and tip, it came $57 and change! The tacos were tasty, but nothing extraordinary. The other entrees that we saw at neighboring tables looked good. There are a lot of Mexican restaurants in PS, many within walking distance of the main drag, that have good food and much better value. The house music made having a conversation and ordering difficult at times. I can only imagine what it must be like when the live band is on.More

During our many visits to Palm Springs we always made a point to dine at Shanghai Reds. Unfortunately, our most recent visit will be our last. We found the prices have increased, the portions decreased, and the overall quality of food to be average. My...spouse and I each had 2 shrimp tacos along with a couple of beers which cost just under $60 - quite expensive even by Palm Springs standards. The tacos are a shadow of what they served in the past. There are far better options and price points at authentic Mexican restaurants serving fish/shrimp tacos throughout the valley at a fraction of the price. Not sure what happened to this place but it seems after receiving a celebrity endorsement they have forgotten what made this restaurant special. Maybe the word has already gotten out. The weekend night we dined there - during prime time hours - only about a third of the tables were occupied. We even overheard the wait staff discussing amongst themselves how slow business has been. In the past there usually was a wait for a table. Sorry Shanghai Reds, this was our last visit.More

At one time this was one of our favourites. It was very popular, often with lineups "out the door". During modernism week, we were able to walk in at 6:30 pm during a week night. There were many empty tables. My seafood stew was fine...but overpriced. The waiter charged us for two glasses of wine we did not have. The loud rock music was off putting.More

Baja Tacos are mmmmm GREAT ! Best still ( even after 12 years.when I first dined there!) in Palm Springs Ca. It's fun, comfortable, and a gem of an eating spot. Outside or inside dining and small parking lot. But worth it for sure to dine...there!More

Thank the Food Spirits... a barstool neighbor recommended this... we would have never found it. FRESH, FRESH, FRESH... prepared in front of you! Great, engaged and friendlylk Hidden in a commercial complex. What a find... happy to share the secret!

The shrimp wrapped bacon was a little over cooked and grilled on a stick. So was the mixed $29 seafood (on a stick). The garlic bread had no cheese on it (menu says it has cheese). The rice pilaf was a little dry and the...pasta was better. Veggies were from a raw state not frozen so that was good. Oysters were worth the try.More

My wife and I recently had dinner here and were very disappointed. Our appetizers included 6 small over spiced grilled shrimp for $18, a plate of tiny steam clams (and by tiny I mean the size of a pea) for $21, and fish tacos for...$8 each. Our bill for a light dinner and a couple of beer was over $90. Way too much considering the average quality of the food and extremely small portions. The service was very good but we won’t be back.More

My son and daughter-in-law swore by their fish tacos and said that the drinks were cheap, so we made it a destination. The drinks were not cheap (I thought), and I could not try the fish tacos, as they were bread-battered, but the shrimp tacos...were very good. And the service was outstanding.More

A repeat stop if on vacation. Not fancy in the least, a long bar with some tables. Sit at the bar and watch the staff cook all the great food right there. Appetizer was Ray Ray Prawns. Large spicy prawns done on the grill. Dipping...sauce requires extra bread. Fish tacos wonderful as usual. A new try was the Oysters Rockefeller. Not your normal. 6 good sized oysters in the shell, spinach, hollandaise, cheese and jalapeno bacon. Wow. Gotta go back before we leave!!More
