My husband picked this as the most special place for us to have dinner on my birthday. Melvyn's opened at 6 pm for dinner and we were the first ones there. I had the Prawns and pork tenderloin and my hubby had the scallops. Both were cooked to perfection. I had enough left over for dinner the next evening. For... More

First off the food was great & service was top notch. Try the Lobster pot pie, it is to die for. The moment I walked into this place I felt like I was transported back to the 50's. I could see Sinatra or Dean Martin sitting in this place, It just had that feel. While waiting for a table I... More

It's so easy to understand why so very many celebrities have, and continue to frequented Melvyn's. You get great service (Robert is our favorite waiter) and great food all in an intimate location that is hidden behind the towering hedges. Despite the reasonable prices, Melvyn's is a great place to take anyone you want to impress.

Melvyn's can certainly fill the dining room on a Friday night in low season Palm Springs so it is doing something right; the food is not that something though. It is the antithesis of the modern eatery with a menu of a type I recognise from eating out with my parents as a young person.I have a cookery book in... More

A walk into the past, complete with faux Greek columns and plastic grape vines on the ceiling. The service was good, but a bit slow. The soups were good, but the entrees (Monte Cristo and trout) were disappointingly mediocre. We were there for lunch, however, and the dinner menu looked much more promising. Be aware that there is a dress code... More

I can't say enough great things. Our evening was flawless from the valet parking attendant to the wait staff and especially the food. One of my friends has many dietary restrictions which were managed by the waiter and kitchen with out a single misstep. The entire staff was considerate and presented us with amazingly delicious food. It could not have... More

They make it really really hard to like. But I want to. The food-well, it's old style, and that's fine. What's not fine is the use of canned fruits and vegetables (mushrooms and mandarin oranges). I'm ok with the surly long time waiters-they are kinda fun, I'm ok with the 1960's items on the menu, that's fine. Just something missing... More

Walked in to Melvyn's and knew we stumbled onto a classic, Palm Springs joint. Great drinks, staff was nice and the energy was what I was looking for. Hate to be cliche but this is the kind of place that the old Rat Pack would have been regulars at.

My husband and I celebrated our tenth anniversary here while we are traveling. The staff took extraordinary measures to ensure that our anniversary was special. The meal was exceptional. They photographed us as a memento. I can highly recommend this restaurant. You will enjoy the ambience, food and service. It's easy to see why this was a Rat Pack favourite.

I'll talk about the lounge area first: If you're looking for an 'after dinner' place to go to listen to music and have a few drinks, this is it. Been around for years. The piano bar is always busy, crowded, but plenty of seating with nice booths along side of the dance floor. Small cocktail tables in front of the... More
