Found this place in my research and worth the visit. Very friendly and humorous staff, especially Sebastian. The staff made us laugh and they were very informative about the food they offer. This place is vegan, vegetarian and gluten friendly. Descent menu choices, we ordered the Chip & Salsa, Mahi Mahi Tostada, and two (street) Tacos ( one Grilled Shrimp and the other Carne Asada ). The street tacos are smaller in size and cheaper than the larger ones. The Mahi Mahi Tostada was served on a flat crisp tortilla and packed with a lot of Mahi mahi topped with avocado.

Of course, “Modern Mexican” sounds like a silly way to describe Mexican food. Until you go there, and realize that this truly isn’t the Mexican food we are used to here in So Cal.
I spent a year working in CDMX, and usually stay in Polanco. This is what “Modern Mexican” is- the type of food you’d find in a hip new restaurant- in Mexico!
We loved the updated versions of Mexican favorites. Torta ahogada is freakin’ amazing, as are my other two new faves- ahi and the mahi tostadas. My friend loves the gueritos, which are mild white chiles stuffed with cream cheese and chorizo.
I went when they first opened, and have become a regular since. So much so, in fact, that the bartenders always know to ask if I’m starting with the spicy margarita, to which the answer is usually YES.
Highly recommend this place, but I would advise you to steer clear of the hot manager. He’s all mine. (He just doesn’t know it, yet.)

As a part time resident of Palm Springs, I'm always looking for new, great restaurants. Low Desert is a find--great food in a great atmosphere. It's not your run of the mill Mexican food. They had familiar Mexican specialties mixed in with some amazing dishes I've never before tried. Their Pozole was excellent and SO tasty. I also had the Huaraches, which was an open faced type of sandwich that I've never heard of but was also really delicious. My friends had various Tacos which were also special. I can't recommend this place highly enough. Prices were very reasonable & I really like that Smoketree Plaza (plenty of indoor and outdoor eating areas. This is my new go-to Mexican place!!

Not the typical Mexican restaurant. Food is very flavorful and the dishes are interesting. Gourmet street tacos each have a unique twist. Loved the environment. Had to wait a few minutes more for service than I thought was necessary but all was great once the food came.

The street tacos here are really flavorful and made with quality ingredients. I had the chicken taco and the seafood tostada, both were excellent. The outdoor patio is a great option, tucked away, nice atmosphere. I can’t wait to go back when I am back in town.

Low Desert
Low Desert has the absolute authenticity of Mexican cuisine and with all the modern flare. You must try the street tacos and zucchini bites ! They’re Soups and salads are equally amazing! This cuisine is tasteful and delicately prepared. Every dish is colorful and vibrant! Cocktails are very refreshing and consistent ! I had the Jalapeño Margarita - It is one of my favorites cocktails! Low Desert left me wanting more ! You must check this restaurant out and maybe even discover new taste buds !

Eat here! We visited two days in a row and wish we had discovered earlier in our stay. Food wonderful. Pazole flavorful, full of pork and hominy. Street tacos generous. Sides tasty. Veggie choices. The staff was very welcoming. Prices reasonable especially considering quality of food and quantity of servings. The food arrived quickly. Inviting patio area and seating inside with good A/C. A little out of the way..well worth a few minutes extra drive. This place deserves to be full of happy people eating and drinking.

We were warmly greeted and quickly seated. The decor was clean and boutique-y. Great indoor and outdoor seating. We chose guacamole, chips and salsa & they didn’t disappoint! Many fun and unusual craft cocktails to choose from - I tried one of their signature margaritas. We had the Low Desert taco with Carne Asada - amazing!! High quality ingredients! Will definitely come back! Owner circulated talking to customers.

Wonderful modern Mexican food. The cauliflower corn mix is to die for. Fresh guacamole is wonderful. The burritos were delicious as were the street tacos. We thoroughly enjoyed our meals. Good drinks and fun atmosphere. Do not miss this hidden gem in the desert.

Gotta love a restaurant who knows exactly what they’re doing. The food was delicious, the staff was friendly, and the place looks awesome. You must try the quesabirria tacos and the pastor burrito! I went in for lunch but will definitely be going back for dinner soon.

Flavorful with quick service. Ordered the Low Desert salad to split and we each had an Al Pastor street taco. Always save room for dessert, the flan was fantastic! We will definitely return on our next PSP visit.

On my last trip to PS, I went to Low Desert because it was close to my hotel. What a great find! The food was delicious and well-priced, and it was such a beautiful room. Thanks to everyone at Low Desert for making my visit so memorable.

Fabulous and Flavorful!!
Went for happy hour (2-5) and had the street tacos and corn. Amazing flavor and very economical compared to other options in PS. The best tacos I’ve had! Highly recommended.

Great vegetarian enchilada, amazing vegan soft tacos. Everything was so flavorful. Really attentive service too, and a nicely-decorated modern interior. We tried a lot of Mexican food while in SoCal, and this was the best.

First time visit hoping to enjoy lunch there today. Not a busy time and was directed to seat myself. Waited well over 10 minutes and no staff waited on me. Noticed the staff having extended conversations with other patrons as well as among themselves. Walked out. Poor customer service.
