We visited here in May of 2020. Owner served us who was so pleasant and helpful. Fun atmosphere, nice patio outside. Servers attentive and helpful. Food served fast. German beer served in frosty mugs was fresh and very good. The German food was delicious. We...all got the combo platters. The bratwurst and schnitzel were outstanding. Highly recommend this for a nice dinner out with friends or family.More

I would have to rate this spot highly because the service is very good, friendly, and fast, and the food for the most part is very flavorful. However, I did not like my cabbage rolls ( in spite of the fact that our server told...us that everybody loves them and they are very tasty) as they were in my view very bland and almost tasteless. With no "special sauce" available to flavor them up, I found them to be disappointing. Everything else was enjoyed by my fellow diners, incluking the borscht and goulash and sausages. I also really liked my Spaetzle. Only the Cabbage Rolls missed the mark.More

Alps Village is a surprising little spot tucked into a sleepy strip mall in Palm Desert. They made some excellent German food, and had some good beers on tap. I also really liked the way they set up their outdoor tables to make you feel...less like you're in a parking lot and more like you're in a garden. I had the Jaegerschnitzel, which was quite good, very flavorful, and a large portion. The Oktoberfest Pretzel we had as an appetizer was also excellent. Service was a little slow, but they were very busy.More

We heard only good things about this restaurant and put it to the test. An amazing range and selection of European foods, German, Greek, Italian, and Mediterranean... and all good. It can be crowded because everyone knows that the food is delicious.

LOVED the food here- classic german faire and also some other regional selections. The pretzels were great (recommend the Oktoberfest pretzel as opposed to the regular one). Schnitzel was great- they offer pork, chicken or veal, with several variations (e.g. one has mushroom sauce). Food...overall was great. Atmosphere was good. Only complaint was the service was SOOOOOO slow. Granted they were very busy and we were fortunate to even get in. But, it was still a bit ludicrous- 10-15 min to even order. then 10-15 for drinks to come. Then 10-15 for them to come back and take food order. We should have learned after a while. But, it was too too slow. But that slow service takes only one star off. It would have been five star otherwise- that's how good the food was.More

I travel for a living. Love finding those independent local joints that the locals love. Stumbled into this one accidentally as usually German fare is not my selection. I will say this. I have never wanted to go back the next night to try something...different on the menu. For this place, I would (and might). You can see by their menu the varying options for dinner. I had the Veal Schnitzel a la Holstein. Just excellent. A little crispy and the lemon caper sauce was excellent. I literally wanted to try everything and they did have a sample option of 2, 3, or 4 options. Might try that next. If you want German food or want to try it, you must go here. If you just want something excellent go here as well. To cap it off, the service was professional and friendly.More

This place is a mystery? Claims to be a Bavarian Place… but menu is Pizza, Mediterranean , and a small portion dedicated to Bavarian ? Most orders for Schnitzle are made from pre-fried chicken breasts… slathered in something? I had the Jaegerschnite with gravy (...Heinz) and something they called Spatzel? No idea what it really was? Chicken was inedible.. tough n dry! $27.00 Pretzel was small..,dry… and the fancy cheese spread was cream cheese? Covid is no excuse for poor quality and high prices! I would definitely avoid this place! YMMVMore

I rarely write a review but think in this case I need to warn others that both the food and service were not worth the cost here. We love German food so wanted to try it but it was not tasty. The cabbage rolls were...the best thing but very expensive for 2 small roll ups (1/2 order). The spatzel was the worst I’ve ever tasted. Neither of us like our meals - I tried the goulash and my husband had the schnitzel - he said the German potato salad was ok and same with the sauerkraut but nothing exceptional. There are so many good restaurants in the area - choose one of them to spend your money at. $108 wasted.More

It started when the hostess looked at me and barked, "Reservation?" Not, "Hi, welcome, do you have a reservation?" Just, "Reservation?" in a harsh tone. BTW, it was a few minutes after 5:00 p.m. Then she led me past the outdoor tables where guests were...seated back to back against guests at the next table. If staying six feet away from other diners matters to you, stop here. It isn't going to happen, regardless of what the Governor says. I mentioned the social distancing to the hostess. She screamed at me, "You want social distancing? Here." And she started dragging a two-top down the sidewalk yards away from anyone. I don't know what the other diners thought, but I felt abused. So I quietly turned around and walked back to my car. I'm home now, and I'm still shaking from the encounter. Even though this restaurant is close to my home, I only eat there about once a year — when the craving for sweet and sour red cabbage hits. This was my first visit in a couple of years. I remember taking a friend from out of town there for a late lunch. The food was OK, but heavy and not very healthy feeling. I remember thinking it really wasn't a good choice. I was right.More

Could not believe how delicious this place was! Must admit I wasn’t excited when friends told us that we would be going to a German restaurant for dinner. Wow, so glad we did! This food is incredible! I got the chicken kabob with ripped potatoes....My husband had the schnitzel and he loved it! The desserts were great. Loved the strudel. Will return.More

First of all the atmosphere is more like a sports bar than a German restaurant. The two of us were seated right next to a table of six, loud talking, obnoxious diners. On the other side of us were another table of six, we could...have joined them they were so close. The prices are high and servings are small. Our bill came to over $65.00 for two and we shared a beer. My husband had the veal and it was so small, he ordered another piece for $8.00. He send the horrible dry spaetzle back and got the potatoes instead. When the bill came they had charged him for the potatoes. They put red cabbage and sourkraut on the plate, it is about of teaspoon of each, more like a garnish. we had to flag the server down several times. She did not return to ask us how the meal was. The veal was actually Ok, but a small serving. When we were leaving the owner was holding the door for about twenty diners that must have been going into a back room to dine. This place is small, crowded and not worth going to. Way to many great places to dine at instead in Palm Desert!More

We had cabbage rolls, jagerschnitzel, sausage plate, cabbage soup, giant pretzels, with spaetzle, sauerkraut and potatoes - all delicious. The kids had buttered noodles.
