We visited this location twice with company and all of us ended up leaving satisfied with our entire meal! The early bird specials are very reasonably priced especially when you see what you get. The meals start with pickles and sauerkraut ,not everyone's favourite ,then soup or salad which was very tasty and not a teensy serving ,so go with an appetite ! Then the entrees come with a meat selection vegetables and potatoes or rice all which were very well done. I had enough beef brisket for a sandwich the next day and I am not a shy eater. Then we took home carrot cake ,the portions are generous and the desserts are the best, no skimping on ingredients or decorating. Our other visit we had the Banana layer cake and the price for a major dessert option is reasonable ,especially when shared. In the restaurant the staff was very efficient and we rated this place very highly for a very good meal. It was busy and bustling so not a great dining option for a quiet evening out at least not in the early evening.

On Tuesday night last week had the best chicken noodle soup I had ever eaten in 72 years. The very next night we had to go back for another bowl. Much to my chagrin, the chicken noodle soup was so watered down there was absolutely no flavor akin to chicken soup. It was so bad that I sent it back. Waiter stated other customers had also rejected the soup that night.
Husband had an absolutely delicious patty melt the first night and an equally fabulous hot pastrami on rye the next night.
Will try the chicken noodle soup again next time!

While visiting the Palm Springs area, my friends took me to Sherman's. What a wonderful surprise! While we waited for a table, we oohed and aahhed over the bakery case, filled to the brim with decadent pastries, cakes, breads. Seated after a 30 minute wait, we poured over the extensive menu. I settled on the grilled, corned beef sandwich and was able to substitute coleslaw for the sauerkraut. A small dish of the best pickles in the world arrived, super crisp with a snap on the outside when bitten into. Our waiter was very attentive despite the fact the restaurant was overflowing with diners. The sandwich was huge and stuffed with the most tender, tasty corned beef. Grilling it had melted the cheese to perfection. The side of thousand island dressing, was the best accompaniment. While we had to wait awhile to get our check, all in all, from start to finish, a wonderful experience. I can't wait to return!

Sherman's was our favorite spot for lunch and dinner. Things have changed over time at Sherman's, portions are smaller, seem to rush you when finished, the pickles and sauerkraut they bring out has been cut back severely, you have to ask for more if you enjoy sauerkraut and pickles. Food portions are going down and pricing is going up. Staff is still very friendly and service is very good.

I prepaid and ordered a special birthday cake for a gentleman who had never been given a birthday party as an adult (74 years old). WOW... I made the cake order simple, "Happy Birthday XXX and paid the $60.00 and was told I could pick it up anytime after 8am Friday . Well at 1pm they had no cake, had lost order and could not replace it Not one single soul in this place cared one iota . They just shrugged their shoulders and said take another but we cannot write on it even if you did pay for it. The lack of caring is more annoying than no cake.. don't order your cake here , you definitely will not get to it.! Lord, I miss Carnegie...

Stopped in here to reward ourselves with a big breakfast after an early morning hike and were very satisfied with the server's energy and yummy dishes! The potatoes on the side with my eggs were "just like mom's." Frequent diner next to us had a big bag of pastries to bring home to her company, which I thought was another good sign of the quality. We will definitely stop in again on a future trip. Tip: This is a short drive from the popular Bump & Grind trail on the edge of town, which makes for a great combo outing for locals and visitor alike.

We admit that in a week trip to the area, we must visit Sherman’s at least 4 times between breakfasts, lunches and dinner. The menu is huge and everything is so good, I can never make up my mind. The wait staff is fabulous in terms of competency and warm personalities. This is a MUST visit, for sure. The rueben, brisket, soup, corned beef hash are my favorites. Two brisket or corned beef between two potato pancakes. You can always take 1/2 home! Their dinner specials are a bargain with soup, vegetable, potato and entree. Thank you Sherman’s! We love your place!

I was excited to go after seeing multiple photo ads in various tourist publications. It was very crowded. The host was lovely but our server was poor. She was too rushed, impatient and it impacted our experience. The cabbage soup was delicious, portions quite large and the lemon cake was delicious. The gluten free brownie was not great. The brisket was tender but bland, as were the vegetables. I would return to try other items, but they either need more staff or to do something about the one who served us.

This was our first time eating at their new location and we ended up eating breakfast and dinner there. For dinner my husband had a beef dish and a bowl of chicken soup. He said his beef dish was great tasting. I tried his soup and was very happy with the taste. I make homemade chicken soup myself so when we go to a restaurant I usually dont expect very good soup because most times its doesn't taste homemade, but I had to admit it was delicious. I had one of their sandwiches and as usual it was delicious and plentiful. We had a cheesecake but I was disappointed in it. It had a top crust on it, of which I didnt like. They are always busy but the waiters and waitresses do a great job. I dont like the parking area at this restaurant. It is small and difficult to get a parking spot.

The cabbage soup arrived cold, sent back and was much better second time.
The pastrami sandwich was good but too much fat. Never asked if we want lean.
The coconut pie was too much cream and not enough filling.
The Napoleon was great.
Service was good.

My son and I stopped in a few days ago in the middle of the afternoon because we were waiting to check into the Hilton across the street. It was hot out, but still sat outside and it was comfortable sitting in the shade. The menu looked fantastic. We are both vegetarian and ordered the grilled cheese sandwich and impossible burger. We both really enjoyed our meals along with great pickles and the fantastic fries. I saw what was being served at other tables and the servings sizes were very generous and looked great. My son had ordered the black forest cake (the desert menu also looked excellent) and it was very good. Service was good and location was perfect for us (just a couple blocks from downtown). It was easy to find parking on the street right in front of the restaurant. If we went back to Palm Springs, I would definitely go back!

Sherman’s is a typical Jewish deli serving a host of enormous sandwiches, soups and salads. It is the second restaurant of the original Sherman’s in Palm Springs. With sandwiches in the $20 range it’s not exactly the place to go every day but there is enough for 2 meals. If you have room left after eating you can always stop by the bakery counter near the exit to pick up one of their humongous pastries.

On a recent Palm Desert visit, we got takeout from Sherman’s. It was conveniently located for us, but also turned out to be a great choice. The Grilled Reuben was overstuffed and delicious; it is served with a dill pickle wedge and cottage fries. The corned beef, pastrami, and Swiss was also excellent and overstuffed, if a little dry. It was also served with a pickle wedge and choice of potato salad or cole slaw; the potato salad was nothing special. It was easy to order (and to customize the bread, cheese, side, etc.) and pay online; we received an email receipt with the estimated pickup time. The food was ready for pickup faster than expected!

Want the best smoked meat? This is it. Also great stuff in other foods as well, including some great soups The place is normally packed & be prepared to wait. Can eat in or on the patio. Also if your not stuffed, have one of the many desserts. OR take it home with you for later. I believe they also will deliver.

I love coming to Sherman's every time I am in Palm Springs, it's simply a must do in the desert. The line cooks work hard and the food tastes great from the matzah ball soup to Reuben, eggs bene to cheesecake. Who really wins the prize is the wait staff, especially Betti, who consistently is working so hard and always with a cheerful countenance no matter how busy. This is a must go - hi to Betti when you get there!
