We've been going to Matsuri for over 10 years and it remains our favorite Japanese restaurant in the Valley. We especially love their potato croquettes and shishito peppers in addition to their fresh seafood. The giant scallops, frequently a special there, are so delicate and delicious. They have a wide selection of rolls as well a large sake menu. They... More

Have gone there for years. You are greeted by friendly faces and smiles. That is so nice. Last time we went the sushi fish was not up to par with our previous visits. My husband thinks it was because they were closed the day before, and may not have gotten fresh fish that day. I think they need to really... More

First place I spotted when I got sushi on the mind... Not being from the area I just found the first place I could. I was driving so I couldn't look anything up. Not bad. Not a huge menu...90% of the rolls menu has shrimp, so I could eat as I am allergic. Nigiri menu was basic...nothing extra ordinary. If... More

Fabulous sushi and tempura Best in the valley. My mom had tempura and I had sushi. The best. I've been coming here for many years. I live in Palm Springs but choose to drive to Matsuri in Palm Desert.

Four of us went for dinner and the waiter told us not to bother with several dishes as they weren't much good! We had some starters which were OK and the main course came before we had even finished them. Two of the dinners came with some weird American style salad which is first for a Japanese restaurant for us.... More

Food was very good and they were decent size portions. The server was super friendly and nice. Very glad we stopped there for dinner.

Consistently great food and service! Not fancy, but you go for the food! Family owned and operated. Lots of locals.

Have dined here since early 80's, always get the sukiyaki, best since my mom's. Will go again with friends soon. They have "The Boat" which is great for 2 couples.

We've been coming to Matsuri for over 5 years and have always had a good meal and very friendly service. The portions are large and well-prepared, and there is a good selection from sushi to combination dinners to ala carte items. The place is not fancy, but it is clean and homey - and the waiter knows all the gossip... More

The food here was unremarkable and bland. We were the only people in there and we were being rushed at 2.45 by the waiter who wanted us to pay for the meal before we were finished, as he wanted to close the till as they were closing at 3pm. Uninteresting food, drab surroundings and pushy staff AVOID
