This Japanese restaurant has been here for years. It is busy and has good food. Service is good. The menu is typical Japanese fare and various sushi are available.

Before moving to the desert, I spent my entire life in westside LA, near "Little Osaka" and in San Jose right in the middle of their almost century old Japantown. And I have been to Japan. So I know Japanese food - the exalted to the every day, the regional to the specialized. So- no - Matsuri does not compare... More

We have eaten sushi in many different places, and, of course have our favorites at home. Matsuri has some the very best sushi we have ever tasted, fresh and beautifully served. There are many choices on the menu. We had a rainbow roll, a passion roll, a dragon roll and spicy tuna. We also had yummy seaweed salad. A must... More

We've been going to Matsuri for over 10 years and it remains our favorite Japanese restaurant in the Valley. We especially love their potato croquettes and shishito peppers in addition to their fresh seafood. The giant scallops, frequently a special there, are so delicate and delicious. They have a wide selection of rolls as well a large sake menu. They... More

Have gone there for years. You are greeted by friendly faces and smiles. That is so nice. Last time we went the sushi fish was not up to par with our previous visits. My husband thinks it was because they were closed the day before, and may not have gotten fresh fish that day. I think they need to really... More

First place I spotted when I got sushi on the mind... Not being from the area I just found the first place I could. I was driving so I couldn't look anything up. Not bad. Not a huge menu...90% of the rolls menu has shrimp, so I could eat as I am allergic. Nigiri menu was basic...nothing extra ordinary. If... More

Fabulous sushi and tempura Best in the valley. My mom had tempura and I had sushi. The best. I've been coming here for many years. I live in Palm Springs but choose to drive to Matsuri in Palm Desert.

Four of us went for dinner and the waiter told us not to bother with several dishes as they weren't much good! We had some starters which were OK and the main course came before we had even finished them. Two of the dinners came with some weird American style salad which is first for a Japanese restaurant for us.... More
