I've been here about a dozen times so far over the past 5 months. I'm slowly working through the menu to try as wide a range of presentations as possible. By the third time the owner was as familiar with me as he is with...the many "regulars". This is the sign of a great local, off the path eatery. Catering to locals but serving the fancy hotel trade with word-of-mouth referrals only seems a perfect way to serve clients who appreciate quality at a fair price. The owner seems to revel in getting the praise he deserves yet is not trying to make a financial killing. This harkens back to a Mom 'n Pop shop. I've been here alone, with my wife and with friends - no difference in the way I was treated by the staff.More

Horrible service, waited at door for over 10 minutes while being ignored by staff, finally told to choose a table, more waiting then a straight couple arrives 5 minutes later and where handed a menu almost immediately. We left 10 minutes later after being ignored....I suspect it either was my brown skin or the fact we where a gay couple.More

5 stars for server Isela who brought us everything we asked for and checked on us. The 3 stars are for the food. Had to send the Huevos Rancheros back because the food was cold. It was also very bland. The bacon was very thin....The pancakes were ok.More

CJs diner was right around the corner from our resort. We didn't find out about it until our 2nd to last day, but we came twice in that time. An excellent brunch spot with a great menu of breakfast and lunch items. Our service was...excellent and the food was delicious. Classic diner food, and quick and fresh as well. When we are back in Palm Desert we will be regular visitors!More

This is a little local "hole in the wall"---a diner in a strip mall--and it would be difficult to find without a phone app helping with directions. Two of my family members thought their meals were "average", (an omelet and hash browns for one, and...eggs, bacon and toast for the other.) The other two felt that their meals were very delicious--(berry french toast/bacon, and a breakfast Monte Cristo. The Monte Cristo is listed as a customer favorite. It was crunchy on the outside, and the cheese was oozing goodness on the inside, and with ham, turkey, and strawberry jam it was perfection.) The diner was moderately busy on a mid-Sunday morning. There were no open tables on the small patio, so we ate indoors. The kitchen is open for all to see, and it appeared that all of the wait staff and cooks were busy. But, the service was slow. Just like most places these days, there are probably too few waitstaff for the number of guests. Our waitress apologized for the wait for silverware, and for the delay in getting out all of our order together. (This probably accounted for the cold eggs and limp hash browns for one of our members.) CJ himself bussed our table at the end of the meal. Would I eat hereagain? Yes, I probably would. I would ask to be seated on the patio if at all possible. I'd order the Monte Cristo again.More

Excellent breakfast place Loved the outdoor setting with flowered bushes surrounding the patio. We both had eggs over easy with hash browns and toast. Everything was done perfectly and service was prompt at 9am.

Nicely spaced tables and booths available, very friendly staff, great home cooked meals, large breakfast plates. Tucked away in a quiet spot but lots of parking is available. I'll be returning, thank you for some home cooked meals.

Went to CJs because of the great reviews. Was not disappointed. The banana nut pancakes were on point and the eggs were perfect. But even better was the service by Veronica and the rest of the staff. We even got to meet CJ the OG!!...If you want a great breakfast that will not break the bank and having your coffee and iced tea topped of every few minutes, this is definitely the place to go. 5 stars all across.More

Spacious, great comfort food, and really good service. The staff was very accommodating and we...had very good, caring service. The food is great and the price is reasonable.More

Just discovered this local diner and what a find. Open for breakfast and lunch with a great menu, wonderful food cooked just the way you like it and an outstanding staff. Had my first breakfast here and it was perfect. Pam, our server was training...Ivonne and they were both great. I can't believe it took me so long to find this treasure. Located off the beaten path, take a moment and search for it. You will be happy you did.More

Decided to try based on several good reviews....It was a mistake. Ordered the pancakes....did not realize that the pancakes came with a side of hashbrown potatoes...(not a good menu choice). The pancakes were raw in the middle. The pancakes came with a small container of...syrup...supposed to be real maple syrup.....Not sure that it was. Price for 3 pancakes with $9.95....a bit much for pancakes. Told the server that pancakes were under cooked....reply was " I'll tell the cook" no offer for replace or credit. Did get coffee refills often.More

They close as 2 pm, but they have a FULL Menu that looked wonderful. You...can sit outside, PET FRIENDLY, and just a outstanding experience! Hungry and want to try a different place to eat, CJ's is a MUST GO TO place!More
