My wife & I had lunch here & found the place to have very good food. We split the fish & chips as well as the New England cam chowder bread bowl. It costs $2 more t have the lid toasted with garlic & cheese. The cost is more than worth it! The soup itself is very good, but the... More

A great little spot - not in the busy wharf area but a walking distance from the aquarium. Everything we took (Chowder, Burger, Hot Sandiches) was very tasty. Its not a fancy restaurants - actually very simple one - but it adds to the charm... Great place for an informal lunch.

Located within walking distance of the Monterey Bay Aquarium and Cannery Row, this is a good place to grab a quick bite without having to settle for a cold sandwich. I tried the clam chowder and Alfredo Pettuni (not sure of the spelling here!), with chicken. It's pasta. Both were delicious. Service is quick. Staff is friendly. Very clean.

We've been visiting Vivolo's for many years. It never disappoints. I always get the clam chowder in the bread bowl. The fish and chips are also to die for. We love these so much we hardly ever get anything else.

I lived in Monterey for three years in the 70s and return every 2-3 years for 3-4 days to escape the summer heat of Phoenix. I have always thought that Vivolo's Chowder House had the best clam chowder in town (being from Boston, I KNOW my clam chowder.) I have eaten there at least 7 or 8 times. My partner... More

We eat here every time we visit the Monterey area. Why? They simply have the best clam chowder around! Most of my family get the chowder in a bread bowl with garlic cheese top. For me, it's one of the best chowders I've had. I would definitely recommend it!

Family and I came to Monterrey on a day trip. I had many clam chowder in the past and this is one of the best I've tasted. Its very "clammy" and flavorful. I ordered a cup and a half of fresh turkey sandwhich. The sandwhich was good, would be better if the bread isn't too thick. Fries was good. Service... More

Six of us ate here 2 weeks ago. Definitely no rave reviews from any of us. My fish was very good but my fries resembled the raw offering of Mcdonalds. Most others had the chowder and couldn't understand the blandness. We went here because we trusted the reviews that it was decent. It wasn't. Our server looked like he was... More

I chose to take out my order from Vivolo's, since I was traveling alone and wanted to catch the sunset at Asilomar Beach. Their chowder was awesome and their fried artichokes were tasty as well. Their service was both professional and friendly. Overall, it was a wonderful experience and exactly what I was looking for.

We have been here several times and always enjoy the clam chowder. Their garlic toast is also very good and reasonably priced. We have never been there when it's been overly crowded and have always been seated right away.
