We are so lucky to have happened upon this lovely cafe! From the moment we first walked in, we felt genuinely welcome! The restaurant is clean, lovingly decorated and made us feel comfortable. Sue and Bill are the perfect hosts. I had the baked salmon...and my husband had the sea bass; both dishes just melt in your mouth, so healthy and delicious! They have a lovely array of entrees, desserts and a perfect list of wines to pair with your selection. During our vacation of 7 nights we made a point of visiting 3 nights; we were NOT disappointed! Make sure to dine here if you value delectable cuisine and wonderful owners!More

This restaurant was incredible. We ate there 3 nights of our 7 night stay. My favorite dish was the sea bass. It was the best I have ever had. The fish was flaky and very flavorful. It just melted in my mouth. The sauce was...amazing, but did not take away from the flavor of the fish. I also had the chicken. The skin was crisp and the meat was tender and moist. The deserts were also fantastic. All homemade. Sue and Bill are fantastic hosts. It felt like family. I will definitely return there on my next vacation.More

Excellent continental cuisine from a locals' favorite forever. The Kanalakis family know how to host and cook. I struggle to decide between the lamb shank, veal, and whatever fish is the special of the day. Everything is always excellent. Desserts are to die for, particularly...the bread pudding and the chocolate choices. You might even see a former mayor of Carmel there with friends.More

We dined twice here, during the summer, once with a group of six. The server was accommodating and able to seat our group away from other diners. On both visits, our meals & service were excellent. Prices are reasonable, esp for the quality of the...food. Definitely worth a visit to this hidden gem!More

This restaurant is well named as everything is very tasty! It is my favorite place in the Monterey Area. Recently I had the crab cakes, a small salad and the lamb filets. Excellent! I shared a dessert, black and white chocolate mousse with a creamy...raspberry sauce - light and delicious! TripAdvisor has the wrong hours of operation posted. It is open on Tuesday as I found out when I called.More

Ordered the Butternut Squash Agnolotti - it was to die for. A bit richer than I anticipated, but I ate every bite. I ordered it for take-out and in spite of the site saying it would be ready in 30 minutes, I was able to...pick it up in 20. Will be back!More

We spent a month in Carmel and on our last night we found the best restaurant in town, which was not in town, but a 10 minute drive to Pacific Grove. This is a gem of a restaurant run by the Karaki Family. The menu...is predominantly Mediterranean and was delicious! The service was excellent and the warmth exuded by the owners as well as their patrons was beyond anything one experiences these days. Sue and her family made us feel like part of their community. I seriously thought about moving West just so I could eat here regularly and visit with these precious people! Kudos to Sue and family for creating such a lovely establishment. I hope I can return this summer and visit Taste Cafe again!More

I asked for spaghetti with arrabiata sauce and they complied. It was delicious! The wine list is not cheap, but reasonable. The service is first rate. Taste is good enough for Clint Eastwood and Bill Murphy and its good enough for me. My new favorite...over Fandango.More

We had an excellent meal last night! We live in San Francisco and are foodies ... Taste Cafe and Bistro would be a staple for us if we lived down here. My husband raved about the lamb, and my sea bass was perfection. Moist, with...the outside slightly crispy. Beurre blanc sauce offset by carmelized onions that were a little tangy to perfectly balance the richness of the sauce. Broccoli cooked perfectly ... and best thing is the food was freshly cooked and served hot. Suzanne was our waitress and she was welcoming and like an old friend.More

For dessert I like them all especially the the brioche bread pudding, highly recommend it, don't be taken by cheap misleading nonsense reviews. Small local favorite. Typical California breakfast fare. Eggs were cooked perfectly and the hash was delicious. I could enjoy this place on a regular schedule!

We discovered Taste Cafe & Bistro when our kids were babies, and we were received graciously without reservation on a major holiday. It's tucked away in a mall setting, away from the tourist area, and seems to be a locals' favorite, for good reasons. We...have been going back each time we stay in Monterey, and every time we have loved the food and been impressed by the friendliness of the staff. My favorite appetizer is the eggplant Napoleon, but everything is good. An excellent quality at reasonable prices.More

Years ago, we ate here a couple times for lunch--and loved it. Now, on a post-covid-vaccinaaion getaway, we were able to enjoy dinner here. This is clearly a favorite for many locals, but we received such a warm welcome, even though we were out-of-towners. We...knew we had come to the right spot. Dinner started with freshly baked bread, warm from the oven--yum!. Our appetizer was shared Dungeness crab cakes (2) with some salad greens--plenty for two. Our entrees were the grilled rabbit and the lamb tenderloin. Both were perfect, served with different vegetables, and (TDF) potatoes au gratin. The entrees were so generous that we took home plenty for our next night's dinner. Throughout the meal, the staff was so pleasant and helpful. By the time we left, we felt like locals. What a special place.More

This restaurant is family run, with Sue(Mom) up front and Dad doing the cooking. The children are the waitresses, and the restaurant is a warm and friendly place. Everything is tasty.Cesar salad is delicious, with the dressing not overwhelming, but subtle and tasty. Grilled eggplant...Napoleon is another favorite appetizer, with mozarella on a brioche crouton and pesto and balsamic vinaigrette The grilled shrimp skewer is also delicious, and i love the mussels, plump and in a tasty broth All the grilled meat dishes are excellent, perfect tenderness, and taste. Pasta is always al dente, and sauces perfectly matched I love the salmon in parchment, and fish specials always great.Scalloped potatoes another favorite The bread pudding is to die for! This is a gem of a place, consistently good food, impeccable service with a smile, should be on your list!More
