Have been many times, have never had a bad experience. Every special we've tried and anything straight off the menu has been excellent. Part of the joy of eating here is also the staff - everyone is so fun and friendly. Their house aperitivi is one of my favorite things to indulge in. Always recommend reservations as they are rightfully... More

Best starter and main course combo of our 10 days in California and we have had some nice meals on our trip so far Service excellent It's a shame we are heading to Napa tomorrow or would be eating here again Do yourself a favour, if you are in Monterey, make sure you eat here

WOW - we were so happy to have eaten here for dinner! The kitchen definitely makes homemade food and it shows! The quality was fabulous - we thought we were back in Italy! Would definitely go back!

This is a great Italian restaurant frequented by locals and lucky tourists. Especially delicious was the lamb ragu on fresh pasta followed by the "Prince" ice cream desert.

If you are there for lunch is a fixed price menu with just a few options but great food, normally a couple of pasta dishes and a fish. For less than $11 per person is impossible to beat. The dinner menu is not very long but is all great food. Homemade, good size servings of traditional Italian dishes. Worth a... More

We thoroughly enjoyed our meal, think the prices are very fair and oh so yummy! There were 7 of us and we all tasted a little bite from each plate. Highly recommend.

We had a wonderful family meal here while staying in the area. Wonderful, cozy ambience, good lighting, excellent authentic Italian dishes. All four of us loved our meal here and felt it was a great choice. Pasta dishes were fresh and homemade. Burrata appetizer was delicious. You can't go wrong with this place. Highly recommend.

We split an order of spaghetti and meatballs and an order of carbonara with guanciale. The Carbonara sauce and the homemade noodles were exceptional but instead of guanciale, which is a cured but unsmoked pork cheek, the sauce had been made with bits of bacon. Now the bacon was delicious and did have some of the unctuous texture of guanciale,... More

We had been recommended this restaurant by SIL who had visited 5 years ago. We went one night knowing they closed at 9, but their doors were locked, so call ahead of time. We went the next day to find them open and busy. It is a rather small restaurant, but we waited only about 20 minutes. We did not... More

We had reservations, but arrived early. We were seated promptly. Our waiter, Charlie, was excellent. He made good recommendations. We had a seafood salad appetizer, shared a large il campo salad. My friend had pesce with pesto for his entree. I had pasta carbonara. It was the best prepared pasta I've had in years. It's a casual setting, yet nicely... More

Imagine that you're winding your way through narrow streets near the Pantheon in Rome. You stumble upon a crowded trattoria where servers hurry by carrying plates of pasta carbonara, rigatoni al pomodoro, bowls of gnocchi swimming in melted gorgonzola-as well as platters of grilled meats and sausage. The aromas are divine, the atmosphere lively and joyful. You have found Maccheroni, a tremendously popular trattoria owned by Luciano Flamini. A similar atmosphere has been created at il vecchio on the Monterey Peninsula. Il vecchio means "the old," and everything about this trattoria romana makes you think you've discovered a traditional dining spot favored by Roman cognoscenti.
