About
AZU Restaurant has been serving fresh California, Spanish & Mexican Cuisine for almost 20 years. We are located in a historic building on Main Street in Downtown Ojai with public parking lot across the street. We at Azu Restaurant believe the best dishes are made from fresh ingredients. We look to our local history with Mexico and Spain for inspiration for our menus. For over 18 years, Owner and Chef Laurel Moore has taken this inspiration and has created a ambiance and menu that has the feel of a Californian retreat, brew pub, and local Ojai escape. Our sister company, Ojai Valley Brewery, is served fresh on tap daily. We brew Artisan, Small Batch Beers, most of which are exclusively sold at

Had a disappointing meal here. Took over an hour from ordering to getting our food. Paella wasn’t very good, too garlic-y. No kids menu which I should have checked in advance but no effort to really help out with suggestions other than a burger for...my kids. And overpriced too. Just a bummer for one of our few nights eating out on vacation.More

Cannot express enough how delicious the food was. We had lunch, came back that night for dinner and came back for lunch the next day. Decent price for the food - very cute restaurant and great service

Hip place with beautiful patio in the back. Food was ok but not great. Music on the weekends is a lovely touch. Unfortunate didn’t get to hear it since our reservations which were made a week in advance got seated 40 min late.

No complaints - not elegant but good menu and good beers and good service. Efficient and friendly without elegance, but that's ok

Excellent food and service with good size portions. Recommend the paella and the mole chicken. Hibiscus margarita was good too.

Not in the mood for a full meal with big entrees, we shared a tapas feast and we loved every bit of it. We ordered most or all of the veg tapas --- guacamole and chips, refried beans, jicama slaw, brussells sprouts, salad, tortillas, and...wine --- and were quite happy and satisfied.More

6 of went here our first night and while it was good was not the best in Ojai. They did accommodate our group and the food was good. Service could have been better but wasn’t BAD.

This place quickly filled up in the evening, so sitting at the bar was a terrific alternative. Skirt steak was good, but the chili Rellano‘s was terrific! Good creative cocktail menu,

My wife and I travel for fun. We seek out unusual and quirky experiences. Azu fits the bill. As you walk in you expect it to be a hipster craft beers and cocktails place.... and it is - kinda. Eat at the bar, the bar...diners were open, friendly and approachable. Watching the mixologists make the craft cocktails is a show. They have a cocktail named Smoke in the Garden, as I watched the mixologist muddled an avocado into the shaker!!! A guacamole cocktail....I am so I’m! The cocktail ended up being a hand shaken margarita with a bunch of gourmet tequilas and the avocado was for “texture”. It was wonderful. The dinners were good, but slightly off what was expected. My1/2 chicken in green mole’ was two thigh/legs in sauce. The bottom half of the chicken, most expect a breast and wing with a “half chicken”. The chicken was delicious with crispy skin in a green sauce dotted with crema. It was nothing like the long cooked sauce commonly called mole’. It was spiced more like a middle eastern dish than a Mexican/Spanish entree. As I said, put aside your expectations and just enjoy. It was delicious. The short ribs were creamy and delicious, middle eastern spiced again. The onions could have been a little less al dente. Very good. Note to management: fix the damn bathroom latch - a note under the latch is too late and means nothing when a beautiful young girl walks in on you. Have a great time and travel well.More
