Loved it so much at breakfast, we came back the next day for lunch!

I saw some great reviews on TA for this restaurant, so we decided to go for breakfast. We got there about 9:30 on a Thursday and there was a line out the door. We only waited about 10 minutes, sat at the counter (socially distanced) and everyone that came past us were really nice and friendly. I had the vegetable scramble and my husband had a ham and cheese omelette and both were great and piping hot. The server was always ready with a top-off on our coffee and we really enjoyed all the surfboards hanging off the ceiling and the memorabilia displayed. The restroom had a hand-painted underwater scene which was really cute. We saw the menu for lunch and decided we would have to come back. For lunch, they directed us to enter from the back of the building and there was outdoor or indoor dining. It was a gorgeous day, so we sat outdoors. I had the California chicken salad and my husband had a burger and both were very good. Again, the server and bus help were really friendly. If we were going to be in the area the next day, we would have likely gone again!

Loved the atmosphere. The food was good and the proportions large. The potato pancakes are unique and tasty, but the "loaded" version was quite rich. The menu on Trip Advisor does not reflect the current prices.

You Can't Find A Better Breakfast!

When you see the line is out the door with locals....then you know you found the best place in town! Everything on the menu looks great, but I have only tried the breakfasts. The breakfasts are great but the homemade coffeecake piping hot with drizzled frosting is to die for! Parking is hard but there is a parking lot across the side street to handle this. Every time we have guests visiting, this is our first stop! We have a tiny pet, so we are also accommodated on the outside, covered patio. You will not be disappointed!

Stopped by for lunch after visiting Oceanside for the day. The restaurant is located away from the beach and pier area, but there is plenty of street side parking as well as a small parking lot on their location. Trust me, its worth the effort to get there. Service was very friendly and they have plenty of outside, patio and inside seating. Tables are spaced per Covid requirements and they are obviously making an effort to comply and make sure customers are safe and comfortable. Service was very friendly and efficient, but the food is the big star here. We had the Banana Crunch Pancakes and the Green Chili Scramble with Chicken. Both of us were very happy and just wish this was a place we could visit more often. They’ve got a great menu and there’s so much more I’d like to try. Bathrooms were very clean. This is an excellent choice for all the right reasons in Oceanside. Enjoy!

A must if you're in the area!

My son and I went here for lunch based on the reviews and were not disappointed. Excellent food and good service that is worth the wait. My son had the Mahi-Mahi burrito with chile verde sauce and I had the hash with over easy eggs and we had their famous coffee cake for our side. All delicious, especially that coffee cake.

Best breakfast place around

They had patio dining. There was an app to access the menu with your phone, but we opted for the paper version. The place was busy, even though it was a week day. Service was above average. The waitress brought us LOTS of salsa (homemade) when we requested extra. I had the Killer Burrito which was large,tasty, and filling. Try it if you go there. This is kinda older building which lots of the locals eat at. Prices are reasonable. The only reason I gave them 4 stars instead of 5 was the hash browns. The meal came with a side. Hash browns were very, very greasy. Next time, I'll have the fruit as a side.

Just okay

For what we ordered, really expensive. The turkey sausage was too salty, the toast was not toasted and the half n half for the coffee is condensed evaporated milk. The wait staff were the best part of this place. Very friendly and attentive. We wouldn't go back however.

Not worth it!

I ordered a short stack, Sausage links and hot tea to the tune of $17.50. WHAT?! The hot cakes were as big as the plate and about 1/2” thick. I don’t get it, I don’t know anyone that cooks them at home like that. That’s just my opinion for what it’s worth. And no, I won’t be going back.

Never lets us down.

Followed Trip Advisor to Beach Break Cafe. Great venue with surfing theme. Staff is friendly and efficient. Eggs, bacon, gluten free pancakes, hash browns, coffee, and coffee cake are tops. No rush to get you to vacate after meal. Can sit and enjoy the coffee. Always return and always recommend.

Omg. The coffee cake!

Can coffee cake count as an entree? Asking for a friend! So as you can guess, this restaurant has the most amazing coffee cake ever on the menu. Worth driving here for, waiting in line for, etc. The rest of the menu is just as yummy with lots of breakfast and lunch favorites. I decided to up the sugar content with some French toast. The decor is all surfing and fun to look at. Downside was the wait - it’s a bit much during peak times and it seemed a bit chaotic to someone who wasn’t a regular. But all of that is worth it for the awesome food!!

Very disappointing experience

I was really excited to take my family here to celebrate my daughter’s birthday. The reviews were outstanding, and I was really looking forward to a special experience for her. However, Sunday morning neither the wait staff, nor the kitchen crew seemed to be on their game. My partner got a salad, topped with mahi -mahi, and his entire bowl was full of water. Additionally, he said the fish was extremely fishy tasting. I don’t know if they forgot to drain the salad, I don’t know if there was some thing with the tuna, but it was pretty much edible. Our server forgot to bring syrup for French toast, requested ranch, dressing for fries, and hot sauce. Each of these things were requested multiple times. My corned beef hash was really salty and so largely inedible as well. The French toast appears to have been good, although the person who got it only ate half of it. The fries with a tuna melt were good, but there were so many sprouts and so little tuna on the sandwich, and it really tasted like a sprout sandwich. The experience just didn’t live up to the hype in any way.

Best breakfast

I came in solo and received a friendly greeting from Kelley, she was quick with coffee, refilled without having to wait too. I ordered the corn beef hash because they make it there and it was the best I’ve ever had as well as a whole plate portion. Very comfortable atmosphere with surfing decor and you can sit outside too. It’s a definite must try for anyone.

Not worth it

How this place has anything over 3 starts is baffling. The service is not bad, not at all. But the food? It’s not worth a visit. We ordered several things, including an omelette, a waffle, bacon, hash browns and coffee cake. The omelette was meh at best. Nothing to write about. Hash browns and waffle had no flavor at all. Like none. It was almost like eating paper. Now the bacon… that was GROSS. I’ve never had bad bacon, that changed recently. I don’t even know how it’s possible, I really tried to not be negative, but wow. Coffee cake was good though. Service was good. Nothing special, but nothing bad to say either. I just don’t understand how it’s rated so high that’s all.

Breakfast lovers must have!

We are not breakfast people but based on reviews we had to stop to try the coffee cake. We shared a coffee cake, amazing, and a breakfast omelette. It was really good. If you’re a breakfast lover this is a must when you’re in the area.

Great Breakfast

My wife and I recently had breakfast at the Beach Break Cafe in Oceanside CA. It was a great choice on my wife's part. She went with eggs and pancakes while I went with the "Awesome Omelet". It had scallops, crab, shrimp, bacon, avocado and jack cheese. The hash browns were crispy and buttery and the potato pancakes were delicious with apple sauce. I would definitely eat here again.
