We have traveled to France multiple times, always bemoaning the seeming inability of Americans to make a decent baguette, let alone a delicate pastry. Our search ended in the suburbs of Oceanside. We ate here all three days we were in the area. The croissants...were fresh, flaky and buttery. The two cakes we tried were delicate and exquisite. We also ordered sandwiches on a baguette. I felt transported to some small town in the South of France, imagining sitting in a cafe and watching the world go by. We returned not only for the food, for the service was impeccable as well. The people we met behind the counter answered all our questions with knowledge and patience. Yes, the breads and pastries at Le Rendez Vous are that good. My only regret is that we live on the other coast, so we cannot return here more often. By far, this is the best and most authentic patisserie we’ve seen in this country. Thank you for the marvelous food and service, I wish you great success in the future,More

I stopped in for a cake for my birthday and was bluntly told I have to order ahead for a cake. Very few items were on display. I finally chose a slice of cheese cake. Most everything was $4.50. Then I got a baguette. I...was very disappointed with the cheese cake as I can do much better at home and the baguette was underwhelming. I won't be back.More

I used to buy from this bakery when they were at linda vista farmers market years ago. Happened to be in oceanside today and knew their bakery was there. Found it and just wanted one of their delicious croissants but ordered two Three cheese panini...also for lunch. They were delicious . I wish they were closer to san diego but finding them made my day. Their menu looked awesome but we dont eat meat. Their display cases were filled with delicious looking pastries but my heart was set on a choc croissant. We will come back when we are in the area againMore

The best bakery ever in term of quality of the baking goods. Their sourdough bread is something especially whole wheat sourdough is the best bread I ever tasted btw nobody in San Diego area makes whole wheat sourdough. Second of all their pastries are heavenly...delicious some with a pastry cream inside them (not a whip cream), most bakeries if not all take shortcuts use whip cream only. We need more bakery like this.More

I’ve had morning coffee and pastry at Le Rendezvous-Vous a few times, and it is a very satisfying way to get the day going. There is usually a line, but it moves. Once you order, they will assemble everything and bring it to your table....The coffees are hot and deeply delicious. The croissants and pastries are buttery and devine. Don’t expect them to just hand you your pastry. And Le Rendex Vous, they will warm it up for you so it is out of the oven fresh! The customers stream in and out, and I’ve never seen anyone disappointed.More

I stop by once or twice a week on my way into work and will pick up a croissant. I've had their almond croissant, the apricot one and the blueberry and they are all fresh and delicious. My friend loves their chocolate almond croissant. The...owners are friendly. This is a small "mom and pop" bakery and I've been coming here for over a year and have never been disappointed.More

Fabulous cafe-au-lait, pastries and desserts. Croissants, creme brûlée and macaroons are the authentic versions you find in France. Worth a visit!

For those with an addiction for sweets - this is our place. Pain au chocolat may be sold at other bakeries--but no place will match the soft crust and top grade chocolate used in their baking. Pecan pie has a new meaning after tasting this...filling. If a 6 and 9 year old want to go there for croque monsieur, no need to say much else.More

I lived in France for a year in college and have returned on vacations. This bakery is a little reminder of how awesome true French bread is. While we've had substandard baguettes once or twice, we've come here for 6 years and enjoyed it 99%...of the time. We come often. The croissants and baguette are the bomb. I usually buy bread and pastry to take home, but have eaten on site a few times. The lunch is not as French as I would like. I don't recommend the croque-monsieur, but the quiche is delicious. Be sure to get a frequent shoppers card. It's a great discount if you'll come here often.More

I have been here many times, and found that their pastries were pretty good - although like some review, depending on the day/time/something... they are not always consistent - sometimes stale, sometimes great. Nothing to make me write a Yelp review - the ambiance is...lacking, and the prices are higher than I expected in the strip mall. However, this past week, my husband attempted to special order a cake. He had a hard time understanding the woman taking the order, and while he thought that he had confirmed a 12:30 pickup, when we drove over (a fairly long drive from our house) she said no, it was 4:30. Okay, bummer.. but, we would come back the next day. We looked on their website and it said that they closed at 4:00PM. So, I went at 2:00, it was closed, I called - the message said 12:00 noon. At this point we have driven 45 minutes out of our way twice to try and pick the cake up. When I spoke with the woman on the following Monday, she told me that it was too bad, and that even though we wouldn't be able to drive all the way there again, she would not refund our purchase. EVEN THOUGH, I know that they cut up cakes and sell them by the slice. Horrible customer service and nothing special to rant about with the food/location - we will never go again. Petite Madeline in downtown is a much better experience- in food (which they have a larger menu), customer service and environment.More

On the good side - this is a really good bakery, a bit on the expensive side yet the taste is great. But over the last couple of years the business has changed. In the early days it was no problem to show up in...the morning and purchase pastry or bread and rolls. As it should be at a bakery store. However the business model has changed and over the last year you needed to be REALLY lucky to show up at 8:30 in the morning and be able to get some rolls or bread. For all of the baked goods it was already spoken by early phone orders. OK not a problem - right !?!? Call in the afternoon before and order your baked goods as needed. Worked well for about half a year - now we have been told by phone and in person that your order needs to be in BEFORE 12:00 noon the day before or your order cannot be accepted This is simply not convenient at all and the bakery store seems not interested in walk in customers - not even in pre-orders the evening before. Seems the bakery is now focused on restaurant business deliveries with stable demand. All preparation is done the afternoon before and only minimal overage is baked to minimize loss. This business model is perfectly fine and understandable BUT Does not suit a bakery store business trying to attract customers. SO before you go - have a plan B in place because chances that you leave empty handed are pretty high. Our call today at 16:00 was to late for Sunday morning rolls total number asked 10 pieces.More
