Excellent Weekend Buffet

Easy to describe. Anything you can imagine is there, made the way you like it. Best Hyatt breakfast we have experienced. Nice environment and great staff. All inclusive for $42, and well worth it. No need for any lunch and only a light dinner.

One of My Favorites!

Thanks to one of my benefits, I was able to dine in for breakfast at Piper at The Seabird during my stay at their sister property next door Mission Pacific. The first morning I went was a Sunday during spring break, and they were quite busy (not sure if its always like this on the weekends). I didn't make reservations so we waited a bit, which was understandable. The staff did an excellent job accommodating everyone and noticed they retained their cool and still provided great customer service despite how busy they were. I order their famous french toast, which was absolutely delicious! It was more like a bread pudding, which I loved. One of the best breakfast dishes I've ever had! The black coffee was good too! Great paired with something sweet like their french toast. Came back the next morning, which as expected was not busy on a Monday morning. Was seated immediately and our server was attentive throughout our dine in experience. Wish I could've tried dinner, but will definitely do that when I come back!

Excellent Food!

We happened on Piper when the line out the door dissuaded us from a nearby restaurant. We got lucky! I am concerned about "grade inflation," but I'm giving 5/5 because Piper served one of the best meals we have had. Two of us had swordfish, one had chicken, and one had gnocchi. I tasted all, and they were all excellent and attractively served. Service was professional, and the atmosphere was quiet enough for easy conversation. The experience was worth the splurge, although the prices are not out of line for the locale.

Ok menu, slow service, ok food

We went with a large group - 8 adults and 2 young children. They tried to seat us by the kitchen which would have been difficult to converse with such a big group. They were very accommodating and gave us a choice of 2 other tables which was great. The server took our appetizer order and disappeared. Apps were served and eaten and still no sign of her. Eventually I went to find the hostess. Our server returned and took our order. I ordered the New York strip steak (medium rare on the rare side) which came with a savory tart. When it arrived, the tart was burnt and the steak was medium rare in the middle but well done one the ends. They brought me another which was almost raw. I wasn't impressed with the menu, the execution or the service.

Fantastic breakfast

Restaurant is inside the Seabird hotel so we stopped by for breakfast. They were very busy on a Friday morning and we were lucky to get in without reservations. Thus, highly recommend reservations. Service was fantastic. My coffee was frequently warmed up.. The coffee is good (I believe the serve MR. Moto). It was definitely fresh. The acai bowl was a true delight. They use sorbet (not a blend) as best I could tell. The presentation was beautiful and the taste was just as good. Lots of fresh fruit and coconut. Topped with sunflower butter! The avocado toast hit the spot for savory. Again, lovely presentation and fantastic taste. The beets are a nice touch. All in all, a fine upscale breakfast!

Brunch!

We enjoyed a nice brunch at Piper. It was a nice sunny day to enjoy outdoor seating. And they had a large selection at the brunch buffet. They were very good about keeping the food fresh and hot and filled. Some faves were the mimosa flight, salmon on cedar plank and the fresh avocado toast bar, and you can request to have it topped with a fresh friend egg. Great starting point to head from to shop and hit the beach too.

Great dinner option in Oceanside

We stayed at the hotel across the street (Mission Pacific), but stumbled upon dinner here as we thought they were only open for breakfast. Turns out they just started serving dinner, so we really lucked out. We had a fantastic meal & experience here. We opted to have appetizers & everything was outstanding. Highly recommend the lamb meatballs and the brussel sprouts, which were uniquely prepared and a great side. Service was also top notch. So glad they are open for dinner now - we’d definitely return.

Exceptional buffet

Came here for brunch buffet for $42. It’s Sat and Sun from 7am-1pm. Has everything but seafood. Quality was exceptional. From French toast, egg bites, Benedict’s, bacon, tri tip, chicken and waffles, desserts and so much more. Drinks are separate, I got mimosa flight. This restaurant is actually part of a hotel! The lobby and restroom was gorgeous! The staff was so friendly. Summer is here so parking was a bit painful. You could either brave it and find free street parking a bit further down by the coast, pay $1.25 an hour at the meters or park in the paid lot for $5 all day on Myers and 1st.

Wonderful food and service

We spent 2 nights at the Seabird and ate breakfast at Piper each morning. The food was incredible and our server, Michelle, was the best! She was so attentive and provided excellent service. Michelle is an Oceanside native and gave us great suggestions and tips on how to spend our time in Oceanside. In fact, we ran into her and her adorable daughter at the harbor! So if you are dining at Piper, be sure to request Michelle.

Service and food was awesome, but beware your forced to pay Surcharges

Service was outstanding the food was delicious. I was surprised by the Surcharges, which was blamed on the employee which will never recieve the 6% surcharges. We just didn't order drinks or deserts to avoid these excess surcharges. Beware, the price you see isn't what you are charged.

Worst dining experience ever.

Worst dining experience ever. Had a 6:45 dinner reservation and walked out at 8:00 after our server told us our order hadn’t even been put in yet. Told us a catering gig they were running was causing the delay. Nice to be second fiddle. Hope the catering guests enjoyed their night. Update: my wife and I also got violently ill from the appetizer we were served. Pro tip - avoid the peach dish.

Amazing breakfast

This restaurant is part of seabird resort( part of Hyatt) hotel. It’s brand new place. Our breakfast were so good that we went back there 2 more times. Besides that this resort is gorgeous. Unfortunately they aren’t opened yet for dinner while we were there. I highly recommended.

Great Service

The service was great and personable. The food was delicious. Our waitress was fantastic. We told her we were celebrating our Anniversary and gave us a card along with a list of places to visit. We were visiting and wasn’t sure of what places we should visit.

Don’t recommend

Unfortunately this restaurant has average food at best. Had the octopus appetizers which were bland. Wife got a salad and braised beef which was ok. Over priced for the quality. Service was slow and there were very few people.

Saturday nights are for events at the hotel, not restaurant guests

Reservation at 6:45, we got our appetizer about an hour later. At around 8:10 we asked if we could at least get the kids spaghetti and meatballs ahead of our adult meals, and the server apologized and said they hadn't even been sent in yet due to the kitchen covering a 250 person event but "shed get it going right now". We left. They didn't charge us for our drinks and appetizers , so there is that. Alyssa emailed overnight and asked for another shot. But considering we two adults actually got food poisoning all night - kid didn't eat the peaches that we ate, she only had the burrata cheese, had to be that as all three of us had pizza after this "experience" - there is zero way we will be back or would recommend anyone try this place. Date of visit: October 2023
