We enjoyed an early evening out the day after Thanksgiving in Occidental. Lots of brew choices - even root beer for the kids - and the staff was very accommodating to small children (ages 3-8). Childs menu with crayons and activity sheet. The menu is pretty standard pub foods. Nice appetizer menu - the wings were a hit with our... More

Great little old bar. Many of the best local beers - and there are many. Surprisingly really good food. If you're lucky there be a local band. If not there are conversations with all.

Tittle pretty much says it. Servers are friendly. This is a small old house, converted into a resturaunt and bar. Tight quarters, low cielings make it loud all the time. Sometimes good local music on the week-ends. Pretty good beer selection. I have never eaten anything here that I actually liked much. Met a motorcycle buddy for beer in late... More

My wife and I stopped in for dinner and drinks. The food was a pleasant surprise. Very good and plenty of it. Our server Molly was very helpful in selecting the drinks. She not only knew her beers, but offered samplers of three varieties. We had a very enjoyable evening at the Barley and Hops.

Found the food to be very greasy and not up to California standards of eating healthy at all!! I understand the beer was good, but I guess it would be so you get drunk enough to stomach the greasy food.

Based on reviews on Trip Advisors we stopped in here on our drive thru Sonoma County. Beer list is extensive and varied - not all IPAs - and the food good. BBQ Steak sandwich was a surprise. The onion rings would have been perfect except that few were too brown. Limited wine list but it had something for most everyone.... More

We love brew pubs. This was a fun find. It is an old time saloon type place with plenty of local craft beer on tap. And a very informed and friendly bartender. We stopped in while waiting to go zip lining and made sure to stop back after the trip. We had a late lunch. My husband tried the rib... More

Near 100 degrees inland so we headed out to the coast where it was about 40 degrees cooler!. On the way home we stopped in at Barley and Hops. Occidental is fairly close to the ocean but even here the temperature was in the upper 80's. Walked inside and it was warm, no air conditioning, decided to stay. With the... More
