We love brew pubs. This was a fun find. It is an old time saloon type place with plenty of local craft beer on tap. And a very informed and friendly bartender. We stopped in while waiting to go zip lining and made sure to stop back after the trip. We had a late lunch. My husband tried the rib... More

Near 100 degrees inland so we headed out to the coast where it was about 40 degrees cooler!. On the way home we stopped in at Barley and Hops. Occidental is fairly close to the ocean but even here the temperature was in the upper 80's. Walked inside and it was warm, no air conditioning, decided to stay. With the... More

Love this place. Consistently great food, excellent selection of beers on draft and bottles, cute ambiance, used to be an old house. If you go, you must try the Death n Taxes Chocolate Mousse for dessert. Out of this world! The sweet potato fries aren't too shabby either :)

My wife and I ate at this pub during our stay in Occidental. This place has a great selection of beers and ciders, as well as above average food for a pub. I had a portobello mushroom sandwich--very tasty-and my wife had a pretzel-breaded chicken salad, which she also loved. There was a wide variety of burgers and other entrees... More

They had a great selection of bottled and on-tap beers. The food was really above average (I had the mac and cheese, with a side of shoestring fries, made perfectly, my partner had a fish sandwich). The bartender was very attentive and made sure we had all the info we needed. They had the Giants game on, but sadly they... More

We hit town and my husband was ready for a good beer and a Tavern after we had been wine tasting for a few days. This place was great. Very personable wait staff, efficient, great recommendations, LOTS OF FOOD. They gave very big portions. Highly recommend!

I ordered a burger and garlic fries. I wish they would have warned me that the garlic would be several cloves of garlic smashed over the fries as the garlic was VERY over powering. The burger was decent but was a little dry. The brioche bun was fantastic. We all ordered water to drink and the waitress brought us tap... More

I'm just learning how to drink beer (too many years with wine) but find this a great neighborhood place to experiment. They've got local and west coast beers, some on tap some in bottles. If on tap, they're cool about offering a taste before you buy a glass. And their food is yummy huge servings. I've been meaning to try... More

I'm still learning to appreciate beer and this is a great place to practice. They had several daily special dishes and a small menu of pub food that was tasty. Neighborhood friendly bar when you enter with a nice pub dining area off to the side. I'll go back!
