My first time to this restaurant, and I must say I give them a 4 out of ten. I waited 2 hours to be seated, then I ordered the gumbo and it tasted more like stew, wasn't good. The fried chicken was ok but too greasy, the Mac and cheese was devine. FYI Please watch where u park your car.... More

This was such a lovely place with great food! We came on a weekday so, no long lines and we were seated right away. For a first timer, best to order what is the best on their menu: butter milk fried chicken & cornmeal waffle with brown sugar butter and apple cider syrup! The waffle was so different. It was... This restaurant has been open for awhile and Im bummed I'm just now going to this place. We came on peak time and so we have to wait for almost an hour. But we made do, ordered our chai latte and had their incredible light biscuit while waiting. Finally had their famous chicken and waffles and was not dissapointed. The... More

Their chicken and waffles are the absolute bomb! I had he barbecue shrimp and grits but my friends had the chicken and waffles. I couldn't stop eating their food. My meal was real good as well. The restaurant is in a seedy part of town but it's not horrible.

Brown Sugar Kitchen is an amazing restaurant. Great breakfast/brunch food selection with coffee that's just amazing. You will be amazed with their waffles and specially made syrup.

Worth the 45 minute wait on a Saturday morning. Slightly hungover from overconsumption at a concert at the greek theater in Berkeley last night, the logical option for the four of us was mimosas and waffles. This place was pretty much the perfect manifestation of said desires. Fluffy perfect waffles, moist and crispy fried chicken, cheesy grits and poached eggs... More

No words. Just chew and enjoy. Sit at the bar and watch a well run kitchen. The chicken was flavorful to the bone! The only pause was realizing that we had to pay extra for maple syrup.

Good food, decent value. Deafeningly noisy, impossible to converse. The wait is very, very long. The vibe is hipsterish and casual.

Chicken and waffles were just ok,, not maple tasting but too heavy on the brown sugar. My date had the special of pork hash and it was really good. Bit pricey and not sure i need to hurry back.

My family of six paid this place a visit on a Wednesday afternoon and waited about 20 minutes. We ordered: - Chicken and Waffles: Delicious. Belgian Waffle was crispy on the outside and light and fluffy on the inside. Chicken was good too but the waffle was definitely the star. I had to order an extra one. - Smoked Chicken... More
