Visited with an enthusiastic local patron, and I was not disappointed. The 10-12 item menu offer dishes from across this vast country, and covers a range of proteins and vegetarian interests. The naan selection is outstanding: without a doubt the most interesting range of naan's I've come across. I choose a lamb dish, and although good, it was not outstanding.... More

Love this restaurant. The Indian cuisine represents several areas of India. We had never seen so many different types of bread and enjoyed all the ones we tried. The atmosphere is elegant, with white table cloths even at lunch time.

At a conference and dying for Indian food, I took the recommendation of a friend and stopped by for a quick dinner. The dining room was spacious and fun, but it took a long time, once I had my menu, to get someone to take my order. The naan lived up to it's billing: they offer a wide selection of... More

Been here a few times for lunch. it's always just so-so for me. The food tends to be fairly bland. Service is always decent, but it's not my favorite indian restaurant.

The restaurant is about a lot more than bread, actually bread is extra when you order their special meals. That said, wow, phenomenal, and prices are very reasonable. Interesting local dishes; their history/context is provided in the menu, so you know which part of India the recipe came from. Their breads are unique and lots of options. Service was excellent.... We dropped in for a late-night meal after having buzzed around the East Bay all day. Even though it was 20 minutes prior to their closing, the staff welcomed us in...nice touch, folks! Both of our meals were flavourful and the portions were generous...kudo's to the kitchen staff!

Stopped in for dinner one night. Had the Punjabi goat curry, which was very tasty and expertly prepared. They do charge for naan, which usually comes with an Indian entree. Very well prepared entrees, limited dessert selection, and very limited beer selection. Would definitely go again.

The Service was good. But the quality was not really up to the standards. Bulk food made in advance just rewarmed again and again.

This is a branch of the original Berkeley restaurant, in a much more spacious location in the old Swan's market in downtown Oakland. The daily specials are all well described and tasty and especially highlighted by the multiple choices of hot and fresh flavored breads, a winning combo. Entrees were interesting and didn't pull punches on spice. Service very attentive... More
