Fun, intimate, and informal - not sure how else to describe this tiny jewel located in a Oakland Neighborhood. We arrived around 8:00 p.m. on a Sunday evening, and waited 10 minutes for table. This is not a "impress your date" place, unless your collective...thing is reasonably authentic Thai food. I enjoyed the chicken larb and a Tom Kha, both delightfully seasoned and accompanied by a generous portion of fresh greens. We'd return in a heartbeat. Restaurant would receive a "5", if parking was less of a hassle. Street parking it is.More

Thus is a small neighbourhood restaurant with delicious authentic food The spices are a combination of thai and lao and vietnamese which are completely unique We had dishes I had never had before in any local restaurant The night we were there it was very...hot and the place is not air-conditioned so it was very uncomfortable so we did not order very much but we will return to sample more on a cooler dayMore

Food was sooo good. And the most authentic Thai/Lao that I've had in the bay. First off, super casual environ. Takes you back to being in S Asia. As soon as you walk in the smell brings you back. Then the decor, lol, stuck back...in the day. But indeed, go for the food. Try the Champ sampler, peanut fried rice, lao sausage, larb. All delish. I've been a few times, but will continue til i try everything on the menu and then will continue to go back for the faves. Seriously worth a visit if you miss what true Thai / Laotian food tastes like!More

The food at Champa Garden is always fresh and delicious - taking me back to Thailand and Laos where I lived at one point. Very authentic dishes and consistent high quality. I like eating in the casual atmosphere in the restaurant, similar to one I'd...find in Bangkok.More

This simple unassuming neighborhood restaurant serves Lao, Vietnamese, and Thai dishes. We had two kinds of noodle dishes: Tom Jood Wonseen with shrimp was unflavorful — sort of like watered down chicken broth with transparent noodles. The other noodle dish we had was better. Service...was rather busy on a Friday night.More

My family have been to this restaurant few times, and first time for me. Small place but very busy. In the evening always long line. I enjoyed the food there, taste authentic. Reasonable price, good portion. We had Champa's Fried Rice, Avocado Rolls, Tom Ka,...Larp - Laos Style with chicken, Lao Sausages-Saigock. Very happy with everything we ordered. Will definitely become our favorite to go place.More

Great find in a residential Oakland neighborhood. We stumbled across Champa Garden while wandering our Atlas Obscura world over the weekend. Had about a 20 minute wait on an early Saturday afternoon. The space is small and pretty tight. But we squeezed over to our...2 top and had a sit. Started with the Nam Kaow - excellent lettuce wrap appetizer Panang Curry - I would have preferred to add pork to this dish, but they had a run on pork and were out, so we opted for beef. I told our server that I wanted it Thai spice hot... He looked at my alabaster white boy skin and smiled, like I was nuts... I told him it was ok, so long as it is not molten hot, I can take it. . . Yes, it was hot...The spice was perfect... and the flavors were probably the best Panang I have ever experienced. Again, I think the pork would have sealed the deal on this dish. Pad hin Ma Parn - I think this dish was 'good' ...BUT the excitement of the Panang overshadowed the more mild flavors here. Finished off with Thai Fried Rice with chicken which was very flavorful and perfectly prepared. The only downside to the evening was the service. We had a very young server, and after our appetizer was completed, they brought the Panang, and then nothing else... no rice to put with it, and no other dishes. We waited quite a long time, and then finally got up and went over to the counter to ask where the rest of the dishes were. We were told it was very busy and the kitchen was backed up... Well, then hold off serving just one incomplete dish and leave us hanging with no follow up or explanation. Then, we had to wait a super long time to get the check, and then the server never did come to get it. I ended up going up to the counter to finish paying. So, because of the service issue, I can only give a 4 star rating. But, YES we will definitely be back to try other dishes... or get my Panang with pork next time.More

After a long day at a trade show, our group of five adult men needed some tasty comfort food and Champa Garden delivered! Literally and figuratively. While I've long enjoyed Thai and Vietnamese food, this was my first time with Laotian. Ordered the food via...the web and it was delivered within a half hour. Some of the stand out dishes: Lao's Noodle Soup, Lao's Vermicelli Soup (with abundant toppings: bean sprouts, fresh mint and cilantro, peanuts and hot chili sauce), I loved the Pad Kea Moa Noodles -- generous portion for under $10.More

Oh my! This is a hidden gem! Tried plates that has pictures in the menu when visited with 4 friends. Great taste but had to wait in line for 50 min.

First time to try Laotian, very similar to Thai. Excellent small hole in the wall place with fantastic food! Very inexpensive! Great service! It is tucked into a neighborhood so you need to park and then walk a bit. It was very easy finding street...parking. Well worth the short walk! We shared a Champa Sampler - appetizer platter. I don't know all that was on the platter, but everything was very tasty! We ordered several dishes to share including Drunken Noodles, Green Curry with Chicken and Mango Sticky Rice for dessert! Everything was wonderful. Portions are very generous!More
