We order take away from here from time-to-time. We used to love this place, but the quality and the service have declined to ho-hum, so it is just OK, nothing special.

Terrific place for great Mexican fast food and a big salsa bar to please all tastes. Good for families with kids. Super-popular neighborhood spot just a long block from my house, right opposite the Rockridge BART station.

I'm of the belief that Mexican food is hard to screw up, but hard to be amazing. I may be wrong after visiting Cactus Taqueria. The crispy tacos are probably the best I've ever had, and close to amazing. I think it's the sauce.

This place used to be so much better in terms of quality of cuisine and the service. Now the staff are downright surly and unfriendly. They often don't answer their phone. The food is thrown out without much care. It's cheap and edible.

Hands down the best crispy tacos I've ever had! The restaurant can get busy at peak hours, but the wait is worthy it in my opinion. Three tacos will fill you up pretty good. Or just order the two taco dish. Either way, enjoy some...of the best tacos you've ever had!More

We picked my son up from his commute home and dropped in to Cactus for takeout salads, empanadas, and assorted other Mexican dishes. This is our 3-yr old grandson's favorite place to eat, and no wonder! Everything was fresh, tasty and reasonably priced. A Fine...dinner!More

We have come back hoping that it will improve, but sadly not the case. The food has become boring and mediocre. The service is downright surly and unpleasant. It's just depressing to come here. Still cheap.

I'm not sure why we kept coming back after years of nasty unpleasant service and consistently declining quality. It is cheap and we live nearby, but there are lots of better restaurants in Rockridge. Just not good.

The atmosphere is more like an open cafeteria, but the food is really tasty. A variety of salsas all very tasty. If you like Mexican food you’ll like this place.

We have owned a home in the Rockridge since the 1970s, and have been in and out of the country for decades. But at "home" we like the food at this longstanding and popular neighborhood place.....and we have lived in Mexico and know the food....We were just there. My wife had the chile relleno, which was done very nicely with just the right amount of batter. I had the fish taco which was generous with fish. The salsa selection at this place is outstanding, and this time we both had aguas frescas...my wife the watermelon and myself the cantaloupe. Very straightforward ordering, with friendly cashiers. You get a number, grab a table, and collect your salsa while waiting for the food. The staff is all Spanish speaking, and have the routine of preparation down pat. They appreciate the thanks in Spanish and not just grudgingly. We like and recommend this place.More
