I don't live in the Bay Area, but frequently visit for business and vacation. Zachary's is ALWAYS a must stop for me. I've been eating there for 25 years and can honestly say that it is the best deep dish pizza I have ever eaten . . . anywhere (sorry Chicago). We even ate at Star Pizza this past week while visiting on vacation (another popular deep dish pizza place in Oakland/Alameda) and, while it was good, it was no Zachary's. While the wait at Zachary's can be daunting, it is well worth it once that pie comes out and you take the first, delicious bite. I called the Berkeley store a couple months ago to ask if they could ship to my location in the NW and, while they don't ship, they gave me the contact info of a third party who does provide that service. If you are ever in the East Bay Area, don't pass on the opportunity to taste this culinary delight!

Zachary's Pizza has been our go to pizza place for decades. We always enjoy their traditional deep dish pizza but have also fallen for their wonderful thin crust pizza. We always get the high quality ingredients when we order a pizza and whether eating their or doing a pick up the customer service is friendly, supportive and professional.

Just 2 blocks from my house, Zachary's is a neighborhood institution and never, ever, ever fails to come up to top marks.
Noisy and crowded for a sit-down meal...so we always get take-out.
Their half-cooked option is brilliant; when we travel, we take a couple to finish cooking upon arrival, and the kids gobble them down.

We had a large vegetarian pizza and caesar salad. Both were good. Ordered from our hotel about 9p. Delivery was slow, but the order was complee and they had included serviceware and extra cheese and hot flakes. Nice fellow delivered who deserved his big tip.

Great pizza, we really like to order half baked pies and take them home. Thick crust is great and the large size serves four to six of us normal folks. Throw in some HS or college kids you may need more. Great staff and always good.

My family and I called in our order. The young man on the phone was very accommodating. He went above and beyond to make sure our order was correct. This meant alot to us especially considering my vegetarian preferences. The food was hot, well seasoned with fresh ingredients. I will definitely return.

This Zachary's Pizza has a really nice atmosphere as well as the staff are very friendly. They always interact with the young kids and make them feel involved. The staff are very accommodating and helpful. The food is also very good, the pizzas come to the table piping hot and have the cheesy-gooey taste that is the signature of Chicago style pizzas. The toppings are generous and overall, the dish makes for a satisfying comfort meal.

One of and probably the best deep dish pizza in the Bay Area. Every slice is delicious! My only small change I would make is to add a little more cheese, but that is just me. The best time to go is before dinner time (if you can) because there will surely be a line out the door.

Just enjoyed a deep dish with mushrooms, spinach and sausage. Went for the door dash delivery so I can’t speak to the actual restaurant setting just the food which was very tasty. I had a taste for pizza and this met my expectations.

This has to be the worse pizza I have ever had. The pizza sauce ranges from bland to sour. I had two pieces and threw the rest in the garbage. It’s the first time I’ve ever been to Zachary’s. I was expecting something better but, it truly is some really bad pizza.

We've been coming here for maybe 20 years and it is really going downhill. Tonight they gave me someone else's pizza and I did not discover the mistake until I got home and started to eat. I guess another customer is disappointed as well. I called to let them know and they offered 50% off on another pizza. What? Prices have gone up about 60 to 70% in 10 years and the toppings are disappearing. Lots of competition out there so they better get it together.

We keep coming back to this neighborhood pizza parlor because we have enjoyed so many great pies before. Now the quality is just so-so and the service is dreary. I don't think the staff like their jobs, even though they supposedly have some stake in the business. it does not show. They are blah or rude. Food is just OK.

We are here every week for slices for lunch, but sometimes we come here to eat in. And it's our favorite place for take out pizza. The stuffed pizza is their great feature. Some staff are great and friendly, others not so much.

The place was crowded for a Tuesday evening.
Took out a Stuffed Zachary's Special and Thin Carne. Too much salt. The tomatoes in the stuffed pizza tasted like it was straight from a can. The think pizza was chewy.
The pizza could have tasted better if we had eaten there but the basic taste was poor.

Great deep dish pizza that is so unique compared to anything else I have ever had. Was so happy to return to Oakland and eat here again after the first time I visited this location long ago in 1997. I wish I could get pizza like this near where I live. I'm from out of the country but will for sure eat here again when I am back in Oakland.
