Haven’t been here for about 3 years. Last time I was hear was 3 years ago with my grandson. Found it by accident. Wasn’t disappointed then and wasn’t disappointed this time either. Consistently good. Best Hot and Sour soup ever! The only new thing ordered...was Cashew chicken, it’s good but boring, needs a little kick. Chow mein, excellent. Moo shu, excellent. Sweet and Sour, excellent. Spring rolls, yum. I think this is going to be my favorite in my new neighborhood.More

Though we brought lunch for our hike, doing that much physical activity, we came to realize that, sitting down to relax was actually more of the reason we came here. It was late after so it was an early dinner that it was not crowded....We sat down and we were served hot tea. Then I ordered a hot spice eggplant and the friends ordered cashew prawns. They are reasonably priced. We ate and left happy.More

We were quite surprised at the friendly greeting and seating available on a Saturday night, with no reservations. It was full, but quiet and the pot of tea was served very hot. Mu Shu vegetables also arrived quickly and quite tasty. Chicken entree and vegetable...dish were good and prices reasonable.More

Decent sized place in Novato. Entrees were very well priced, lunch included appetizer and hot and sour soup. Generous portions. Quiet plance.

We arrived just after opening for lunch. Took awhile to get the waiters attention to order even though we were the only customers. Lunch specials were well priced. Included soup, eggroll, rice and entree. Food was fresh and very hot, good taste. Place got busier...as we ate, including phone orders. Food was good, not great. Waiters coming in later seemed more attentive.More

The egg flower soup was bland, the portions were small. The waiter was very attentive. Wish the food was better.

Great little place and they have a really amazing lunch menu. Best place in Novato for Chinese food and some friendly staff.

China village is a moderately priced Chinese restaurant that serves most of the usual standards (although not Shrimp with lobster sauce) at reasonable prices for what you get. They are very consistent unlike other Chinese restaurants in Novato, and provide better quality than most as...well. Try the Westlake Beef soup. It's phenomenal.More

I have tried every Chinese Restaurant in Novato over the past 3 years and have strong opinions as to the best in the following categories including food taste and quality, portion size, friendliness, timeliness and accuracy of the service staff and management, and overall value....Although China Village does not have the single highest rating in any category, they do have the highest average rating overall. That is, they are in the top two or three in every category CONSISTENTLY. They actually care a lot about your dining experience whether eating in, takeout or delivery, and aim to please. They are not the cheapest, but they provide the best value in quality and portion size for the price. They may be a close second to the very best for overall food quality and presentation, but that other place costs much more and has lousy service and attitude (which for me is a big part of the dining experience). So fore delicious food in ample portions at a modest price with great service, this place is tops overall.More

We like Chinese food. traveling in our motorhome, we have not had very good luck, however. This was takeout. Pork and Vegetable Potstickers? huge sodden lumps of dough filled with some kind of porky paste-like sugary substance. The vegetable ones were gooey lumps with some...tiny pieces of carrot and celery, maybe a tiny bit of cabbage. Potstickers (Jiaozi in China) come in all shapes and sizes. In Japan, potstickers are know as gyoza and they were stolen directly from the Chinese. But the potstickers that are best (not to be confused with shumai or dim sum), whether from China or Japan, should have an almost translucence look and flavor and be packed tightly with ingredients (not loosely). Light frying on one side is okay, but the best aren't greasy at all. The sesame beef came in a container with no sauce, no vegetables, nothing except deep fried pieces of beef.....greasy and tasteless. In the bag, we found a container of black liquid with floating sesame seeds, and figured out we'd have to combine them to make "sesame beef." Except I have never had sesame beef anywhere in the world, like this. No scallions, no greens, no peppers, no hint of any vegetable at all. Just deep fried alarmingly dry lumps. The pieces of "beef" inside were so small that one might wonder if these were just deep fried lumps of batter. I have never seen sesame beef deep fried. Maybe I have been lucky up to now. The wonton soup was only marginally better. At least it had some veggies, not much, but some...four pea pods, four pieces of carrot, four mushrooms, some cabbage, and this was the large size. The wontons were filled with the same filling as the meat potstickers except without the sugar. The broth was a chicken broth, but so watered down that it may also have been a lightly seasoned vegetable broth as well. Very hard to tell. I see that this place has gotten some rave reviews and that's why I went there for take-out for me and my wife. I hope we went on a bad day. We gave up and made do with some leftovers in the freezer. The white rice was good and deserved a star.More
