This is a very non-OC kind of place. Unique, genuine, good food and local flavor. We had amazing sandwiches (tuna melt, grilled veggie) and incredibly fresh salads. Even the basic garden salad was a treat. Fresh ingredients and a delicious homemade dill dressing. Great coffee drinks, too, and free refills on their delicious mango iced tea.

Amazing food for sit down or pastries. Small and quaint. Service good. Looks like they cater mostly to locals.

Alta is my favorite local coffee house and weekend breakfast place. The omelets are amazing, the sunrise sandwich is another of my favorites but with crunchy bacon instead of ham. The lattes are an addictive daily craving. The ambiance is raw and casual, fun and eclectic. Good outdoor seating but it gets very crowded and the wait can be long.... More

The was our favorite coffee shop back in the 90's when we lived on the peninsula, and we were thrilled to find it still in business some 20 years later; it is still hip and happening. The breakfast burritos are great. We recommend that you rent a bike, cruse around, and discover great places like this.

In the world of Starbucks, it's nice to have a local coffee shop that serves way more than coffee. They have a wonderful breakfast! Eggs, meats, coffee cakes and of course delicious coffee. They also have to-die-for desserts! They have seating inside and great outside spot with heaters. The staff is nice and they have live music at night. It's... More

Stopped here for quick breakfast on a family recommendation. It's cute, friendly, and certainly in a great location, if you want to walk around a bit. There is parking with meters, on the street. I was not overwhelmed with the food, although all in all, I would come back. I have no affiliation with this cafe and my thoughts are... More

For those of you old enough to remember the late 60's and early 70's, we hung out in coffee houses and night clubs just like Alta. Art on the walls, maybe a guitar player, casual atmosphere, and no one was uptight. Alta is a ray of sunshine within the glitz of Newport. The food is great, the servers are all... More

Unfortunately we were told 10 minute wait that turned into an hour. Food was good but not "that good."

It's hidden away on one of Cannery Village's backstreets and is a true local favorite. My brother got coffee here every day of high school and I go whenever I'm home. The coffee is excellent and not exorbitantly priced, they bake their pastries in-house and the overall atmosphere is very much old-school Newport. Recommendations include the Bueno Bowl and the...
