In Europe there is a rumour, that if you want to drink a really bad coffee, you need to go to US. It is true in most of the cases, but Kean coffee is one of the exceptions. If you like coffee and you are...nearby, you need to stop here. You can try their coffee there, you can buy different types to take home.More

Sorry about that! We are first and foremost a local coffee roaster and a community gathering place, and choose not to have WiFi to promote a more social atmosphere, which is very effective. Everyone is still very welcome to enjoy our coffeehouse using their own...More

I love Kean coffee Newport Beach! The coffee is excellent! For me though, the best part of going to Kean is getting to have a scrumptious gluten free sweet bread (I love the apple bread) with my amazing coffee of choice (turkish coffee, latte, cold...brew).So few coffee houses have delectable gluten free sweet options. Kean blows the competition away!More

My wife and I were staying overnight at the nearby Newport Beach Marriott Bayview ( beautiful hotel ). After having a sensational dinner and watching the talented John Waite in concert at Mozambique in Laguna Beach we needed a comforting breakfast the next morning. From...our previous experience only Kean Coffee nearby suited our needs. We jumped in my wife's brand new Tesla 3 and arrived here soon after 9am. The place was absolutely pumping.......the outdoor patio was full and there was a line out the door and down the pathway. Wow ! Having said that we easily found a couple of square bar top tables inside to push together for our foursome. A couple of us stood in line together while we sorted out what to order for breakfast. "O" ( "O" looked after my wife and I when we were here last New Year's Eve ) behind the service counter helped us out. We ordered 1 x 20 oz Latte, 1 x 16 oz Chai Latte, 2 x 12 oz Lattes, 2 x Spinach Quiches, 1 x Chocolate Banana Loaf, 1 x Chocolate Croissant, 1 x Blueberry Muffin and a savory Bagel. A smiling barista named Ana made all our drinks and I picked them up when they were ready. This coffee shop must be the number one coffee hot spot in Newport Beach as every man and his dog was here. Our lattes tasted really good with subtle chocolate nuances....these guys know how to roast good coffee. No complaints with our delicious warmed up Spinach Quiches, Chocolate Banana Loaf or Chocolate Croissant.....all very fresh ! As I said in my previous review that walking up to this place in this strip mall you wouldn't think much of it from the exterior but inside it is a totally warm and welcoming experience. Definitely a top coffee shop !More

I am a local and this is THE local choice for coffee hence there is often a line out the door in the mornings. The line goes fast but if you are in a hurry stick with plain drip coffee; even that is worth the...line. However, if time is not an issue then enjoy the atmosphere as you wait for your specialty drink.....so worth it.More

Kean is a very local coffee stop, and favored by the locals for their very good coffee. Recommended.

Excellent coffee house. Parking has improved with anew parking structure. Great assortment of coffee beans, many of them organic and free trade. Coffee is better than their teas. Wish it wasn't always so crowded.

Thanks for your review! The quietest times are usually midday, between 11 am and 2 pm. Evenings are much less crowded also, especially good if you're just stopping by to grab some beans.

The location is in a quieter area although we did have trouble finding an empty table. Coffee was excellent but the pastries/croissant were fine, nothing special. Highly recommended if you are in the area for the coffee (recommend the Italian cappuccino which was excellent).

Good coffee in a very comfortable setting. Quieter then the places on PCH and better coffee too. Good selection of pastries, but an ordinary selection.

The Dietrich family has been operating coffeehouses in Orange County for generations. They are really, really good at it. They roast their own beans, which will ruin you for everything else. Their drinks are not the sugar and milk confections of your local Starbucks. That...is a good thing. The pastries come from local bakeries and are excellent. It always crowded with regulars.More
