When we lived on the Island we could always count on a great meal and quality service that made our guests feel special. It also was our "go to place" for date night!

A tiny but great place on the island, good French/Swiss food, highly recommended (We travel 40 minutes each way to eat here).

I have eaten here several times but after my wife and I enjoyed dinner here last Saturday night I felt compelled to write a review. This is a small place on Balboa Island's touristy main street but the quality of the cooking is marvelous. On this visit I had grilled Copper River Salmon that was beautifully presented and cooked perfectly.... More

Best food and Best service on Balboa. Hands down. Intimate, cozy environment. Be prepared to know your neighbors at the tables next to you. Can be very stuffy on warm nights. But it is a lovely experience, with classic and sumptous food. Parking is difficult, if not next to impossible. But if you are staying on the island and want... More

We ate here last January and I almost forgot to do a review. The place is small, probably will seat only 20 people at full capacity. Definitely call for reservation. The place and food will not fail you. Reminded me of a cozy place we ate at Prague- but couldn't remember the name. That day the menu was in a... More

A visit to this place is always a very special experience. Unexpected intimate and quaint it brings to mind a meal enjoyed in a small Swiss or French bistro. But enough about the atmosphere--lets get to the cuisine --definitely worth the price of admission and the best restaurant on Balboa Is in my opinion. Service and cuisine is always top... More

Dining at Basilic reminds me of being at one of the cozy restaurants on Rue Mouffetard in Paris. Some of our party began the meal with French onion soup, which was perfectly prepared, not overly salty as in other restaurants. I had foie gras which was amazing. It was better than some of the snazzy restaurants in Paris. For the... More

We have dined at Basilic many times over the years, usually to celebrate our anniversary. Last night we celebrated our 40th. It never disappoints. The couple who own and operate this tiny, 8 table restaurant, are on top of every detail, from the amuse bouche to dessert. Delicious French/Swiss cuisine is a can't miss delight.
