Came last March and decided a return visit was in order, but one dish was disappointing. Service and location were wonderful - very professional and attentive. Tender Calamari appetizer was great. Sea Bass was excellent, but the House Made Pasta with Lobster lacked flavor and the seafood seemed not very fresh. Stick to the local fish and you will be... More

On a family outing, we took the boat from Dana Point to Newport Beach, could dock right at the restaurant, very convenient. With nine people, we unfortunately did not have a table with a view, but rather right down from the reception area, which was a bit of a drawback. The ambience is clearly that of a fine dining establishment,... More

The Cannery was recommended by our hotel and other locals and did not disappoint us. The historic setting on the Newport waterfront was lovely and the food superb. Service was very good too.

Oh. My. Yumminess! Everything was amazing! We went fir brunch (which they have on Saturdays. Yay!!! And until 3 pm. Yay again!) I ordered the special which was prime rib eggs Benedict with chipotle hollandaise sauce. It was sooo good! The prime rib was tender and flavorful. And it was cooked exactly how I asked, which honestly doesn't usually happen... More

I was very disappointed when I took a group of six people for brunch. There was NO vegetarian option for two members of our party. We were told that the only thing would be the side dishes and salads. I ordered the fish tacos the choice was grilled sword fish or fried cod. Since I was getting three tacos, I... More

Pick any nice afternoon in Newport Beach and make it a little nicer with lunch on the patio at The Cannery Restaurant overlooking the bay. Monday through Friday afternoon wines are 50% off, makes a Wednesday feel like Sunday. There is no better way to spend a day then sharing friends, seafood and chardonnay, especially sashimi scallops and oysters.

Definitely go for happy hour. Sit in the bar and the menu is 1/2 price. We had chowder fries, sushi and sliders. All were excellent. Had a pitcher of Moscow mules which were great. The portions are full size during happy hour- just a great price

A group of six had dinner hers and the food and wine were vastly overpriced for what one got. The fish was bland and the service was slow.

My husband and I wanted to have a nice dinner so we searched the Internet for "best restaurant" in Newport Beach. The Cannery kept coming up..so we decided to try it. SO HAPPY WE DID!!! The restaurant is located on the water’s edge in Newport Harbor. It was a close drive from our hotel (Hyatt Newport Beach) about 5 minutes... More
