I'm in the process of moving to Nevada City, CA- I've been back and forth from Colorado to here and Friar Tuck's has quickly become a favorite. The food is delicious and we love the laid back scene this place provides. The bar side is fun and has live music often and the dining area is great too.

We rarely eat here except on special occasions, but I think it's worth the price. Friar Tucks is mostly known for their Fondue, which I can't comment on, because I didn't have it (don't really care for it). Did have the hamburger which was reasonably priced for a high-end restaurant, probably 1/2 pound of meat with a lot of fries.... More

This is a wonderful restaurant to visit with family or just a twosome. The bar has a great menu and is almost always available with just a short wait. The main restaurant is large but fairly quiet so conversations are not forced. The menu is extensive but the fondue is fairly unique and well worth trying for adults. Flaming anything... More

Went with family and it was really fun and great environment. Next time I want to try the fondue, it looks amazing. We all had great meals and can't wait to come back again.

I love going here for the fondoo. It is pricey, but it is a good place to go for a special treat. They often have live music.

Our third evening in Nevada City we decided to try Friar Tucks for an early dinner. The restaurant is bigger than it looks outside, and we were escorted toward the back of the restaurant where it was a bit darker. We took a while with the menu but decided on the cheese fondue (for 2) as an appetizer. And we... More

We've lived in the area for nearly 40 years.....Friar Tucks has been our favorite restaurant all these years. We like to sit in the bar area and listen to the music and order off that menu. The smoked salmon appetizer is the best ever, not to mention the french onion soup and the crab cakes.

I had dinner at Friar Tuck's with a large group. The servers were nice, friendly and prompt. The building is historical, with interesting nooks and crannies. With Saturday's live music and talkers we had a very hard time hearing each other. The artichoke appetizer was cooked to an unfriendly crisp. The shrimp scampi was tough. The creme brûlée, though, was... More

Like another reviewer, this has been our special occasion place for over twenty years, and we missed it when it burned down but were glad when it was resurrected from the ashes. For a while, they were great again, but something has happened. Their prices have always been high compared to other restaurants, but the quality and service has gone... More

Thank you for your feedback. We are very sorry you had such a disappointing experience at our restaurant. Being a loyal customer for 20 years, I'm sure you know that is not the type of food or service we strive for. The filet and yorkshire pudding you describe is very embarrassing to us. Our filets are cut in house and... More

This has been a "special occasion" restaurant for my husband and I for 20 years. We ate here when we first started dating, and have come back for birthdays and anniversaries. We had to move out of state for work in 2010 when the economy tanked, and this was the last nice restaurant we went to. We recently moved back... More

Thank you for being a loyal customer for 20 years! We are sorry to hear you didn't enjoy your most recent visit with us. Our cheese fondue recipe has not changed.
