This is one of the top burgers I've ever had. Great flavor. Love the old diner feel. Very family friendly. We'll eat definitely be sure to eat when we're in town.

The food was bland there wasn't anything special about it other than disappointment. We saw the bad review but the rest were great so we gave it a shot and were let down. Service is slow probably because they don't have a POS they should really consider making serious changes. We probably would never go back

After reading other reviews I was blindsided by what was one of the worst burgers I have had in my life. I hate to say it like that, but there is no other way. I had the Elvis and the blue cheese crumble was the only redeeming factor. The burger was beyond over cooked and flavorless(aside from the blue cheese),... More

This place had great burgers and a chill 50s/60s nostalgic atmosphere. The burgers and fries were a good size and not too greasy. The waitress was friendly and funny, and got us to play a game of checkers, the winner getting a free ice cream.

Good burgers, we kept it simple and had the Uncle Sam burgers. Asked for them well done, thankfully they were! I find most places I've travelled in the U.S. if you ask for well done they still come somewhat pink! Very friendly waitress. Food was served quickly. And it's a real can of pop you get, not the watered down... More

Yummy juicy friendly fun. This is a family run restaurant that has been around for a while. It is clean and very full of nostalgic music momentous, especially the big stereo from the 50s with 33 albums you can play for enjoyment. Loved this place. Tired of f all the trendy upscale burger places with bland staff and even blander... More

Living in Phoenix I have come to accept that a lot of very good restaurants have humble/inauspicious strip mall locations and American Burger is one of those. The El Salvadoran family that runs the place are fantastic and they definitely cook up some great burgers and fries. I didn't see them on the menu in time but I certainly would've... More

We walked over there from the Aquarium (4-5 blocks) based on the great reviews. There were two waiters serving 4-5 tables, but one kept disappearing. He was also the most uninterested order taker. He may be the cook too?! We order burgers, chicken nuggets and fries. Food took a very very long time to come out. Then we had to... More

Food was very good, beers were cold, fun playing checkers before food got there. Waitress was very nice, polite, and made small talk with us. Daughter LOVED the Marilyn glass she was served with. Pictures of patrons on tables was a nice touch.

We walked out when 2 of the 3 things we asked for, they were out of. The tables were sticky, only one guy was there, and at 6pm, we were the only ones in the restaurant. We had read such good reviews and were looking for a good burger. Did not want to risk it.

American Burger was started in August of 2009 by the Miguel family. Prior to this, the Miguels ran a Mexican restaurant before recognizing the need for a high-quality, easy-going burger joint on Lighthouse. Proud immigrants from El Salvador, they named the new restaurant "American Burger" in honor of their own pursuit of the American entrepreneurial dream
