I've been here on several occasions and the food and service have been very good. Lunch buffet is best in town for the price $14 "all you can eat". I love their steaks though for dinner...very tender perfectly cooked medium rare filet mignon is my favorite. Their lackluster sides that come with the meal loses them a star though...overdone vegetables... More

This dinner was very good. The service was outstanding. They are recent new owners so perhaps some kinks to work out, but everyone was bustling!

We where looking for somewhere near our Motel. The desk clerk recommend the Monterey cookhouse. We enjoyed our meals. The pulled pork sliders were delicious and the fries were perfect. Large portions so my husband and I split our meal. Our granddaughter had grilled chicken Caesar salad and I tasted the chicken and would recommend it. Very good service.

We were disappointed in this restaurant. It was the first Caesar salad I had had which was just lettuce and dressing, with a slice of garlic bread on top. The burger was ok but nothing special. Also the liquor licence was between ownership so no beer or wine with the meal. Was pleased we were only there once.

Recommended by our hotel, nice decor spacious restaurant. Very pleasant staff and the ambience was convivial and we had a great chat with a fire crew down from Shasta to control the Soberones Carmel Valley fire. Excellent pizza and great large steak accompanied by a good value local Zinfandel by Craftwork. Most enjoyable.

I'm not really sure why this place is called the Cookhouse? Normally, one would associate a cookhouse with down-home barbecue and pizza and rotisserie chicken, but this place is mostly rustic Italian with some other out-of-place items. The sign for the place is black and red with flames but the inside looks like a dressy-casual Italian place that hasn't been... More

Out of the main strip of Monterey but quite close to many motels on Fremont Street, the Monterey Cookhouse is a gem. A great ambience inside with elegant décor, to match the excellent food served. Pricing is very reasonable and the service in without a doubt some of the friendliest & efficient we had on our tour of the US.... More

Stayed in Monterey and hotel recommended this as a local spot that has a bit of everything. The decor is a bit like stepping back in time but the service was great. They were efficient and very pleasant. Had the smoked combo which was huge. Food came out hot and great flavor. Also has a chocolate genache cheese cake. Yum.... More

I ate here on wednesday 13 july. Initially all was fine and main waitress (owner?)was very friendly. Ordered brisket dip and their pizza on special that day. Pizza didn't taste great and I ended up with a sick stomach for the night - the only trendy to which was to actually throw up. I ordered coffee (was told they don't... More

We ate here the first night as it was close to our hotel. Food was excellent. Had leftovers we took back and heated up the brisket. Was good the next day as well.
